So start SEC before we get in to SEC play?
This sounds great for fans, but doesn’t make any sense for the team stand point.

Wouldn’t count as a sec game. Old enough to remember when we played ole miss and state in New Orleans.

In this hypothetical, the SEC schools wouldn't have to necessarily play each other.

1. There are tournaments that have SEC teams that dont play one another; if you have 6-7 teams or something there, not everyone plays one another. Most of the time teams only play 2-3 other teams
2. If we happen to play an SEC team it's just like any other non-conference game, and probably a good one on the resume at that

That's actually a really good idea. That would be sick. I can see some people might think it would take away from our brand and give more attention to neighboring rival programs, but F that we should do it.

What?
This ain't football... you aren't killing guys more in a game vs an D1 powerhouse instead of a game vs a JUCO.
It's just another game from the physical impact on a player or team standpoint.
And from a development standpoint, it's much better to be playing the deeper teams early, always.

I think any decent minor league stadium in the south should be exploring hosting these early season tournaments.

It would be nice to play better competition to start the season. Playing Omaha and Purdue-FW is pretty much fools gold.
We play enough cupcakes to get the young guys experience, we should at least play a couple decent games before SEC play.
