Argos, the dog of Odysseus, waited 20 years for his master to return home.

And died shortly after finally seeing him again.
This is just another “I love my dog post” but it’s just amazing how cross-generational our collective love of these creatures is. Our greatest epic takes the time to point out the loyalty of a dog. God gave us great friends!

My 13 tear old Boston passed two weeks ago. My daughter came home from school and found him lying down and barely moving. I rushed home to see him and he passed the second I sat down and held him. I know he held out to see me one last time.

My dog has a great life. She is the first face I see in the morning.

If I remember correctly, Odysseus couldn't even greet Argos because he was in disguise. Argos recognized him anyway, like a good boy would.

Talk about a heartstring pulling scene in a show you’d never expect it from.

Odysseus dog was a pitbull. He was just waiting up hoping Odysseus brought him to Trojans to bite.

Dogs deserve a one way ticket to heaven.

My dogs might not be on the level of Argos, but they will frick your shite up if you try to deliver a package to my house or walk your arse up in my house, friend or foe.
They go from 80 pound lap dogs to "what the frick you doing up in here?" in a millisecond, and I like it.

I no the feeling, I lost my best friend the day after Christmas I still can’t believe he is gone he was not even 8years yet a few days short. Came out of no where he was running acts acting like he was 6months old went swimming brought him home he looked sore I assumed it was good, he laid down and could t not get up to eat dinner or drink water I thought ok I need to bring him to vet he must have pulled his hammy or hip or something. He couldn’t get up in the morning and I noticed blood on the dog bed and I started to lose it. I picked his 135lb butt up loaded him up and drove 45min to the vet. They told me what I suspected internal bleeding cancer had eaten his spleen and organs. Some organs burst and they could not do anything. Said I was looking at 10k in surgery and he may not live through it and probably won’t live more the 30days.
I made my decision to not do it. I regret that a lot but I no I would be upside down rn with that. I have had people die in my hands and nothing was this hard or effected me the same way. I’m still not over it and have not opened his ashes or death box or what ever it is with paw prints and collar it breaks my heart. I’m sorry man I no what you are feeling

Hachi A Dog’s Tale is a beautiful film.. imo it’s Top Ten.. ok maybe not, but it’s definitely in my personal top ten, it might even be my favorite movie of all time, even above Shawshank , Pulp and Goodfellas….. unfortunately though, i cant watch it very often, the last approx 1/3rd of the movie , for anyone who has loved and lost a beloved canine- it’s just too much .. getting a lump in my throat just typing this .. Long live Hachi and all the good boys like him .

My childhood dog was a toward the end of his days when I was in college. I went to my parents house one afternoon and he was just standing and struggling to breathe. I tried to get him to lay down and get comfortable but when he would lay down his breathing worsened. My Dad got home shortly after and we sat on the couch with him and he passed in our arms.
I think he stood up all day, laboring to breathe, just to see us again to tell us bye.

Please don’t regret it. You know deep down, as much as it hurts, you did the right thing. No dog deserves to suffer. The most important thing in our relationship with our dogs is to know when it’s that time. It is a serious obligation that we owe them in exchange for what they bring to us.
