I'll call BS

A quarter of US shoppers have dumped favorite stores over political stances

A new poll also found that four in 10 Americans have shifted spending to align with moral views in recent months

Americans are changing their shopping habits and even dumping their favorite stores in a backlash against corporations that have shifted their public policies to align with the Trump administration, according to a poll exclusively shared with the Guardian.

Four out of 10 Americans have shifted their spending over the last few months to align with their moral views, according to the Harris poll.

31% of Americans reported having no interest in supporting the economy this year – a sentiment especially felt by younger (gen Z: 37%), Black (41% v white: 28%) and Democratic consumers (35% v 29% of independents and 28% of Republicans).

A quarter (24%) of respondents have even stopped shopping at their favorite stores because of their politics (Black: 35%, gen Z: 32%, Democratic: 31%).

"in recent months"

Interesting to limit the commentary to the last few months. I'm sure if you go back a couple of years, the ratio of republicans versus Democrats doing this would not look the same. It would have been skewed strongly toward the right after Bud Light's missteps or Target's tuck-friendly underwear problems.

I haven't eaten Chick-fil-a since their owner bent the knee to the George Floyd mob.

Wonder where they are polling. They seem to say that due to Trump alignment they will ditch stores. I think they missed out about the number of US Citizens that ditched stores/business that aligned with stupid things like DEI initiatives, LGBTQXYZ+1#%£}§ parades and BLM riots.

I have dumped so many its hard to keep track.

The list grows daily and I am perfectly fine with it.

Or they stopped shopping because they are broke.

Lets not forget that.

I have stopped buying anything Tyson foods including their food branded under other names, and I live about 15 minutes from their HQ.

Here is my list of issues with them.

Laying off Americans and hiring illegals, plus giving them free legal councel
Firing unvaccinated employees
Major DEI push
Pushing the whole insects in our food agenda

So Harris got about 48% of the vote. Are we to believe 4 out of 5 Harris voters are no longer shopping at specific stores because of Trump.

Bull shite.

After reading the article, it’s propaganda.

It incorporates 2 favored tactics for leftist propaganda:
Scare tactic (for business owners)
Polling that’s always biased, if not fictional

What does this mean and how does this work? "I want to see Trump fail so I just won't buy anything until he's out of office?"

Me too. I definitely do my best to minimize where I spend money if I notice outward DEI messaging.

I doubt it.

Most of the leftists are welfare people.

Welfare people don't have enough money to influence an economy.

Sounds like agitprop to help the “general strike” that the left wants to do at the end of the month to claim how strong their impact on the economy is.

What about when the government forces banks to lend to those people regardless of an ability to repay?
