Common sense is so nice to experience, especially from DC.

Pennies are a pain (and obviously not worth its production) but how will this work when getting change back when it's less than 5 cents & not enough pennies in circulation I don't want a business rounding up & taking my 4 cents x a gazillion transactions.

Pennies do add up. Even Office Space found that out.

Any currency most people are unwilling to actively try to procure is worthless.

Some stores have been trying to encourage their customers to "round up" for charity. Maybe they were pre conditioning for this eventuality.

Really no need for the penny especially since fewer and fewer people use cash on a daily basis

This is such a scam. They take our “donations”, then they get the tax write off.

Canada rounds up for 3, 4 or 5. Down for 1 or 2.

Gasoline is priced at 9/10 of a penny but we never had a 1/10 penny coin.

Do y'all think there will be a run on pennies? Will people want them now that they are no longer being produced?

Is the metal used worth more than $.01, or is the cost of production what drives up the price?

“So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.”
