I know there's the thread on the rant but I'm not supposed to post there and I'm afraid my question will be seen as negative from the beginning
but truly it's not i'm curious how bad the LSU fans think this can get
Forgive me if I'm asking the question the wrong way truly I'm not trying to be negative about the University i'm just curious what y'all think
I'll hang up and listen

Brooks family trolling for a settlement

Say anything negative and they'll scream at you while throwing internet piss balloons.

I doubt seriously that BK, LSU, or anyone other than a lawyer publicly says anything else from LSU's side because of the now open hostility and litigation from the other side. The Brooks family will likely continue the current smear campaign in an attempt to drum up public support for their cause and to keep the story in the news in an attempt to put pressure on LSU to settle. In the end it will likely be settled out of court including an NDA even though LSU has literally done nothing wrong. My heart goes out to Greg Brooks and his family, my niece died of brain cancer at 4 years old in 2022. It's a beyond horrible disease, and it isn't fair that this happened to Greg, but there isn’t anything that LSU could have done differently that would change where Greg's life has currently ended up.

LSU and Kelly have nothing to gain at this point talking publicly. The situation is to emotionally charged

I think it can end up being a terrible look for LSU, simply because that’s how the media works. My gut says LSU and Kelly didn’t do anything wrong. Any disconnect from Kelly was probably for legal purposes.
But when you see Greg talk, your heart goes out to him and it’s easy for people without real knowledge of the situation to jump on that side.

I think its current state is about as bad as it can get. Whole lot of noise & then it will get settled/dismissed. I don’t think LSU wants to fight this in court simply for the negative PR

Kelly is in kind of a lose lose situation and I think the Brooks family may be leaning into that to get a better result from lawsuit.
Kelly listens to legal advice and cuts off contact - Brooks family knows that Kelly has been advised to no longer speak and can make him an easy target in court of public opinion (knowing the dislike a lot of people in sports media have for him) by saying Kelly doesn't care because he hasn't spoken to them.
Kelly ignores advice and does contact Brooks - Brooks family can then use anything Kelly says against LSU, no matter the intent of the communication. (i.e. Kelly says I'm so sorry that you are in this situation, Greg, and then Greg's attorneys can interpret that as Kelly and LSU being culpable). LSU could also fire Kelly with cause for ignoring legal counsel if they told him not to contact Brooks.

Whole situation just makes me hate lawyers more
Taking advantage of a grieving family that has had something awful happen to them

You could just read the 10 page thread on the rant about it

BK and LSU are frankly in a shite spot.
I’m sure the truth will come out in the future but by then the media will have moved on and no one will care. The damage will be done e though.
I did read they were also suing LSU for using GBs name, image, and likeness. I assume it was from when they created that fund to help him with medical expenses? If so, that’s incredibly shitty of them.

It’s a negative cloud and far Scott shots himself if a negative cloud is around.
Honestly if this is a way out from BK I think you take that exit. However he is likely lined up to have a decent season.
I’d prefer we do what we can to delay and if the season turns south use it to jettison BK and his contract.
On the other side the brooks family is getting terrible advice. If this was worked out internally I’m sure LSU would have kept him comfortable and he would have a lasting legacy in the program. Think like ole Miss and chucky Mullins type thing.
Instead some snake lawyer now has a big portion of people hate brooks family and isolate him from what good he did for the program so he can get a bigger settlement.

I posted this in another thread, but the Brooks’ family has really been pushing the whole “Kelly / LSU didn’t contact me in 16 months” narrative. Whether true or not, that narrative has absolutely nothing to do with Brooks’s causes of action in his complaint. It’s just bad publicity. If blatantly false, you’d have a defamation-slander action, but would you really want to pursue that against Brooks? That’s also a bad look.

Exactly, this has nothing to do with the condition Greg is in. It’s a pure play for people’s emotions, media coverage, etc.
The issues at play are whether this took too long to diagnose, if the concerns of Brooks were ignored, and if the surgery was performed in an erroneous manner.
It seems to me like 95 percent of the case is really the last factor, and because this is a risky and specialized surgery, bad outcomes can occur much more than something straightforward like a dermatologist removing a precancerous mole.
It would have to be truly negligent because doctors have a greater degree of protection on super complex medical procedures. I figure brain cancer is at the top of the list of complex procedures along with spinal surgery.
Kelly not taking to the family is a complete red herring.

Not enough for LSU to terminate B Kelly, just too much money on that deal left. Not like this is a breach of contract. Yeah Brian Kelly is an a-hole, everyone knew that already

Problem is, Brooks family attorney is hammering CBK and LSU so hard (without any legal basis) that even if LSU settles it may still seem like an admission of fault to many, rather than go to trial and be vindicated, which they certainly would.

LSU best interest is to settle and make this go away. Sadly no matter what the truth is, going to be hard to walk away with this looking good.

I often don’t think it’s possible for me to hate lawyers more than I do.
Yet it happens.
The legal practice has gotten to the point where right and wrong is no longer being litigated - it seems to have become a “heads I win, tails I don’t lose much” endeavor more like a gamble than a pursuit of justice.

Sad for Greg Brooks Jr but LSU didn't give him brain cancer.
Sad that his family has taken this route.
Sounds like LSU did everything they could to diagnose issues he was having but at the end of the day LSU is not in the business of diagnosing cancer. After continued issues LSU did send him to the professionals that deal with this type of illness and I don't think within 30+ days is unreasonable.
I have a relative that had cancer and was having issues but nothing that they thought indicated cancer. Went to several doctors and told them of the issues before eventually getting a diagnosis. It happens to plenty of people.
No one was stopping Greg or his family from seeking any additional medical treatment.
During the early part of that season LSU was very cautious as he missed some games and I'm willing to bet Greg was pushing to get back on the field for his draft stock more then anything and Kelly has always been cautious with playing hurt players.
