A deleted scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron features Chris Evans's Captain America getting out of the Quinjet as he and his compatriots prepare for Ultron's attack on Sokovia. Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Hawkeye run out before Cap, who grabs his helmet and prepares to put it on when something catches his eye. A nearby wall is covered in graffiti, including an image of a more comic-accurate Captain America helmet with the word "Fasista," (or "fascist") splayed across it. For added emphasis, the tagger puts red demon eyes over the superhero. Seeing this, Steve throws his helmet back on the plane. Noticing Cap's small moment, Hawkeye chimes in to diffuse the situation, jokingly commenting that the artist's work isn't bad before following the others into the city.

This is the kind of propaganda they are selling our children.

Trump should abolish Disney under the monopoly laws.

K.

Also, if this bothers you just wait until Evans returns in the Secret Wars movies as Captain Hydra (which this cut scene was likely alluding to indirectly)

i think in 2012 or whenever this came out i couldn't have minded it, but in modern day sensibilities, I 100% would have understood it and taken 0 offense. Honestly, that would have been in line with the movie and I wouldn't have blinked.

I think we live in the greatest country that has ever existed and i could defend that to my dying breath, but I have a good and hard long understanding of how American Foreign Policy could have lead to that grafitti being an accurate feeling.

Even if that had stayed in the movie, it wouldn’t have been Disney calling cap a fascist. Obviously.

It would have made perfect sense for people in Sokovia to have viewed captain america (and America more broadly) as an evil figure prior to the saving of the city. That was literally the entire character arc for scarlet witch and quicksilver in that movie. For it to be mimicked by the rest of the city’s population would be very straightforward world building. Not Disney trashing their own character in their own film.

I swear, y’all are fricking pitiful sometimes. I didn’t used to put much credence into the whole ‘Russia is flooding social media with nonsense’ arguments, but y’all are making me more and more open to it. I don’t want to believe that a well-intentioned, genuine American would be this fragile, weak and stupid. It’s almost a more reassuring story that Russia is trying to get us to hate ourselves than that y’all are genuinely this broken.

This is very meh, and I'm a pretty big opponent to woke stuff in movies.

In real life America has done some shitty things in foreign policy.

In the movie, Sokovia sort of stands in for that. Even Cap throwing his helmet is fine.....

As long as he continues to fight for America and try to make a difference, which he does. Totally a fair take.

exactly. The conversation about sitting and waiting for a bomb labeled "Stark" to go off on their collapsed building was one of the realest moments of the MCU. I don't blame Tony, especially since he had done a 180 in IM1, but it was a real moment of what somebody could understand in their worldview with the littlest of acknowledgment to real world implications to something like Boeing, Northrup Grumman, etc.

I'm rah rah America/support the troops, but am very aware of our foreign policy blunders in the last 30 years.

It was a plot device to explain why Cap no longer wore his mask/helmet. Nothing more, nothing less. Not sure how this would make you squeel in discomfort while no one gave a shite when Cap dropped the red, white, and blue uniform.

Pretty sure that when they had to edit down for time, extra tidbits like this dropped to the edit room floor.

And why is this "Disney calling Cap a fascist" and not every other instance where characters in the films disparaged him?

Yep. This is a big nothing to me. And, it doesn't surprise me who posted it thinking he had some kind of reverse "gotcha!".

If that equals Disney calling Cap a fascist, then Disney also called Spider-Man a murderer in No Way Home.

Ive never understood how the avengers can cause so much destruction and avoid collateral damage casualties.

Are we really supposed to believe no civilians were killed during the Hulk vs Iron Man fight in age of ultron?

Batflec seeking revenge against Superman for wrecking a whole city and killing civilians in MoS was an angle they could have done a lot with if they had a shred of creativity.
