This is seriously impressive.

Curriculum reform seems to be the cause for the success

When you finally hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. I'm sure La is still way below the national average at the end of the day.

They switched to a phonics based system. Kind of similar to what Mississippi did not too long ago.

That's a pretty significant jump and by comparison insanely big. Kudos to the state. I hope LA can continue educational progress as the state really needs it.

Do you know how this works?

When you have incredibly bad numbers then follow it up with a decent month it makes the turn around look magical but its not. The numbers were abysmal prior making this look great when in reality are they even back to the national average?

The real story here that people should be in prison for closing all the schools for COVID.

People who dont understand math and how things work which is the majority will look at this as a big positive.

Its a political piece for the powers that be.

People who do understand how this works understand this is for show.

This board can’t handle positive news about Louisiana.

This is really good for the overall education community in our state and comes on some positive economic news recently.

They jumped from 49th to 32nd

That’s real progress. Why try to minimize it?

When is Louisiana 32nd in anything???

Some of you are truly miserable. God forbid the state show any sign of progress and improvement. This is over several years, too.

You are partially right. We went from trash to average, not average to elite, however progress is progress. Let's see how we are in a year or two though and if those numbers continue holding up.

There's not much in this state to be happy about, let's take our small victories.
