During a meeting on Wednesday of the Senate Committee on the Budget, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) told Office of Management and Budget Director Nominee Russell T. Vought that his America First Act would ban illegal immigrants from receiving welfare and other benefits.
Senator Lee introduced the America First Act in December 2024. The legislation is designed to prevent “illegal immigrants paroled into the United States from accessing billions of dollars in welfare and other benefits intended for American families.” Texas Representative Chip Roy and Chairman Jodey Arrington introduced a companion bill in the House.

Most of the financial support for Illegal Immigrants comes from Catholic and Methodist NGO's. The way to remove them from "Welfare & Benefits" is via deportation.

I’m for changing the law to all immigrants, legal and illegal, are barred from receiving any benefits of any kind from the federal government. This includes any federal dollars through an NGO. My only exception would be an income tax refund for legal immigrants working here.
These programs should be for citizens only and I would include social security benefits as citizens only as well. If you are an immigrant that lived and worked here long enough to qualify for social security, become a citizen. If you don’t want to, thank you for your contribution.

This, We're a fully developed country. If you want to come here you need to be able to compete and be fully independent based on your contributions. We don't need more handout voters.

I don’t claim to know, whether as a matter of policy or morality, exactly how to proceed, but we must think seriously about the behavior we are incentivizing and disincentivizing. This proposal, while perhaps harsh in practice, at least seems to have that in mind.
