Selling on FB Marketplace: Observations

Facebook really needs to stop showing listings to people that are far away. At least not as the default. If you don't click the "Local" tab it will give you results from things 200+ miles away. This causes me to get endless messages from idiots that don't read the description.
There are a lot of dumb people that think shipping costs are only like 2 or 3 dollars for bulky items.
"Hi, is this available"
Female customers are more reliable than males.
Black dudes never show up. Latinos only show up 5% of the time and they try to low-ball you even after you've stated that the already extremely low price is firm.
First gen Asians will try to short change you frequently. Count the money.
Totes and storage bins are a hot commodity.
Zelle and Cashapp will increase your business over being just cash only.
I only have a FB for selling. I literally have no friends on there so save the "Get off of FB spiel"

What does race/ethnicity have to do with this?
I would be more concerned how bad FB Marketplace has become over the years, at least half of what you see posted for sale is a scam. It's becoming what Craigslist used to be.

I don't think I've sold anything on marketplace since before COVID. The last couple of times I tried selling something, I'd get so many scam messages it wasn't worth the effort. Now I just burn every thing.

I've honestly never had any issues with selling on FB and I sell pretty often.
Its pretty easy to filter out the scammers and those that I don't want to do business with.

I’m shipping everything and build it into costs. I’m not meeting randos or having someone come to my house.

They're just late. They eventually get there.

Statistical facts really bother some people. It's one of the main reasons we can't have nice things.

Its a great stress-reliever

If an Asian woman shows up at your house, plan on backing her vehicle up for her.
Had one attempt a 30 point turn in my driveway, which is straight as an arrow... lost a few flower pots that day.

Big tickets items that I have purchased off FB page are listed below:
2004 Honda Rincon - Transaction went smooth
1994 37' Holiday Rambler 5th Wheel - Transaction went smooth.
2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 - We happened to know the family so transaction went very smooth.
2004 Kawaski Mule 3000 - Transaction went smooth
2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 - Person happened to be 15 minutes from my house and transaction went smooth.
I really haven't used FB Marketplace for smaller items. I usually do some homework on the seller before I even contact them. I have been using FB Marketplace since 2018 and it has changed drastically in the last 7 years. I am very cautious and only contact folks if interested.

I sold my former boat and my daughter's former car on Facebook marketplace VERY easily; lots of quick interest and responses and both buyers were great people who were easy to deal with. In each case, we both felt we got a good deal, probably because there was no 'middleman'.
On the other hand, I have been trying to sell two bottles of Tesla tequila on there for over 6 months. Made arrangements to meet up and sell and people bail a day or so before. Or this morning got a request from someone in Minnesota who wants me to ship it to them, which I can't do legally.
