200 people for 90 days for 16 million. That’s $889 per person per day. Wonder who gets that contract?

quote:

New Orleans homeless residents learned they can no longer stay in public spaces around Caesars Superdome, the French Quarter, Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 90. Those tent cities are set to close on Wednesday.

quote:

State police distributed flyers informing them that encampments are relocating to a temporary shelter in a warehouse along the Industrial Canal on France Road.

quote:

A state disaster contractor spent Monday preparing what the state calls a "transitional center" for up to 200 homeless people.

quote:

City Council member Lesli Harris said it would have been better for the state to honor the city's $8 million request to help expand permanent housing capacity rather than just move people to a temporary shelter.

quote:

The estimated price tag to operate the shelter for 90 days is $16 million.

Funny how the homeless are recognized to be a blight and embarrassment on cities during major events, but otherwise they're just fine to be left to their own devices the rest of the year.

If homeless people have to be hidden for important city events, then it is a problem that should be corrected permanently for the citizens who pay the taxes that support the city.

I wonder who had the winning bid for the contract?

That shithole city ain’t worried about all that. They only want to not look like a total shithole for a very short period of time.

They could put them on a cruise ship for less than that. Pathetic.

$889
—that’s more than Biden gave the people in LA who’s homes burned to the ground.

So the idea is to take a bunch of folks that need mental help and medication and put them all under the same roof?

I’m sure nothing at all goes wrong

I could host two of them at my house for $1778 per day. I'll buy them all the alcohol and food they want. They can even take a shower and we'll order a few new changes of clothes from Amazon.

They could each buy a nice house for that.

You could just buy all 200 of them a $80,000 mobile home and give them a house instead of a hotel for 90 days.

The inefficiency of the government is astounding.

Do what Giuliani did back in the 90s in NY. Throw them all in the river.

Not really. He put them in hotels and it was a lot less than $800 a day. You gotta clean up the streets if you want business to grow but these fricken politicians today, geez I tell ya.
