I am seeing a chiropractor for the first time. The chiropractor laid out a 7 week treatment plan, 3 days per week. I was offered the following payment options:

1. Full Payment Now

2. Care Credit, pending approval, 12 months interest free

3. Pay as you go

4. Payment plan carried interest free by the chiropractor

They really were stressing that they did not recommend #3, pay as you go which was what I chose. I am assuming this is because they want to get your money whether you continue or discontinue with your appointments.

It almost felt like dealing with the finance guy at a car dealership. Is this the normal procedure followed by chiropractors? Most doctors send you a bill after filing with insurance but they do not do that, is this normal?

its normal because they are a scam and will probably hurt you more than help you.

Well chiropractors are basically the used car salesmen of "healthcare" so that would make sense

Whoah. Both of the first two options are to make sure you keep coming.

I'm not sure what kind of chiro you're going to, but I couldn't take what mine did to me (more massage and sports therapy) more than once a week. Sweating on the table and grunting, "Oh, we just need to stretch this shoulder out a little," me: FML.

Chiropractors are not real doctors. There shuffle and jive distinguishes them from a masuse . If not billed to insurance its scam

I have been to a chiropractor only once about 12 years ago.

I had 3 sessions, pay as you go, once per week. We never discussed any payment plans.

After the third one he asked me if I was seeing any improvement and I said yeah. My pain had completely gone away. He just said "Then you don't need to come back. Just let me know if it flares up again."

I was surprised with his honesty. I have never had to go back.

What are the numbers for each.. just curious. and why would anyone go with 2 if 4 was available without having to worry about approval.

Judging by the comments above, my guy must be a rare exception.

He did some electrical pulse stimulation for about 20 minutes. Then some manipulation for 10 more. Then twisting my neck a couple of times, while listening to it go snap, crackle, pop.

I always felt great afterwards, and my problem went away after 3 treatments.

Has anyone ever gone to a rolfer?

I used to play tennis with a guy who did that for a living.

He told me "You don't come to me expecting a pleasurable experience."

Apparently it is a very intense deep tissue manipulation that can be very painful.

Or you could seek real treatment which may be covered by insurance?

Most of the ones bitching about chiropractors have never been to one.

Just pay as you go, evaluate as you go.

I've had good and mediocre experiences at the chiro.

Hope you feel better.

No brainer if the total amounts are all the same. Pay as you go.

They've been extremely helpful for someone like me with lots of old nagging injuries. I love adjustments, and they work for some people and not others.

There is a reason why plaintiff attys use chiropractors; treatments go on & on & on. Which increases the final settlement, as length of "treatment" is a factor in determining how long "pain & suffering" goes on. And most of the ones on billboards have agreements with plaintiff attys who use them the most. Get your real MD to refer you to a physical therapist.

The only option is pay as you go. If you pay in full before hand or get the financing, what happens if you don't make all 21 visits? You will have hell getting your money back I can promise you that.

As someone who sees a chiro who helps me..it sounds like you're seeing a scam artist

3x a week is a lot! I only need to see mine once every few months.
Asking for all the money up front is super shady
