I’ve never beat a video game twice or done an NG+ run

Is anybody else like this? Once I’ve beat a game I’m completely done with it. I have 0 desire to play it again no matter how much I loved it. Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time but I could not imagine having to do it all over again. I get the appeal. It adds an extra challenge and many games require multiple playthroughs for different endings, but for me there’s so much other shite to play that I can’t fathom doing the same game all over again, and I hate that most games require 2 playthroughs for a platinum.
I guess it could partly be because I play 90% RPGs and the main appeal of the game to me is getting sucked into a good story. Once the game is over I already know the story so the main appeal is done. Does this mean I’m not a true gamer?

Some games ramp the difficulty up a little too high in NG+.
What is the point of having all of your stats and weapons if you are just as weak starting out as the original play or even weaker.
I seem to recall being an Uber God at the end of Surge 2 and then NG+, i couldn't survive the opening tutorial.

Very much depends on the game for me
For sprawling 70+ hour epics like Witcher 3 and whatnot, I do my first playthrough to absolute completion and then typically don't want to play again
For Fromsoft games and other well-paced works that are respectful of the players time and provide QOL features that increase replayability, I am happy to play again
Can't stand when games do this. Having to replay FFVII Rebirth on Hard right now and I'm just running past everything except mandatory fights

End game in Nioh/Nioh 2 doesn't even start until after NG+4

But aside from those games, I rarely play NG+ or beyond. Although, DS2 SotFS has an awesome NG+ with different enemy placement/red phantoms/etc.

i am in your boat, always have been.
there are exceptions though,, things like rogue lites/likes i'll play over after "beating" it.
but in general, games with big long 100 hour stories. not, i do not ever play them again, even if i absolutely love them. Same way with movies, i very rarely watch movies more than once. My favorite movies of all times I've maybe watched from start to finish 3 times.
and this is my main reason. i like new experiences and there are so many out there.

If you haven't New Game+'ed ChronoTrigger, you're straight up missing out.

Only ones with diff characters to choose from.
So like a diablo. Where the diff characters have diff skills sets and what not.

I've done it for the trophies. My second playthrough tends to be quicker just because I know what to do and have the controls down but I can't help myself from doing all the side missions and getting the collectables again. Of course if you want to go back to the NES era, there were plenty of games you could beat in 20-30 minutes so I beat those plenty of times.

Depends on the game.
I have done multiple runs / new game + on series like Metal Gear Solid, Advance Wars, Resident Evil, etc.
In the case of several of these, there are either alternative missions available upon replay or you can get things like unlimited ammo, optical camouflage, etc., which makes for a different experience.

Very very rarely.
One ng+ dark souls run and I think I did a Witcher 3 ng
Bout it. I agree with you.

Besides FromSoftware games I typically don't beat super long/big games multiple times. For jumbo sized games, I just do one thorough play through, trying to 100% it and call it completed.
Just as a personal rule of them I'd consider a game under 20 hours short, a 20-50 hour game medium, 50-100 long, and 100+ extremely long.
If the game isn't extemely long I almost always end up doing multiple playthroughs when I first buy the game. I often never touch it again after those initial playthorughs though.
Many games these days are designed for multiple playthroughs so to fully experience them you do need to do it multiple times. There may be multiple endings or optional content only down one particular path, etc. Doing the game a 2nd time at a higher difficulty is also common for me.
If you're trying to see all the content or get all the achievements, multiple playthroughs are almost mandatory.
But it really depends on how long the game is and how big my current back log is. I don't get many games these days and there's usually nothing else immediately on deck so I enjoy multiple playthroughs after an initial purchase.
If you have 10 games sitting in your personal queue I totally get not repeating them,

I watched the trailer for Witcher 4 and it immediately triggered a 4th or 5th replay out of me
Btw the next gen release from a year or so is incredible if you haven't seen it. The game is absolutely gorgeous and the quality of life improvements are great.

My first thought as well, that 2nd play-through opens up a lot of options.

I'm in complete agreement, and I have also never done a NG+ run. I've maybe started a game again after YEARS of having beaten it (I recall Bioshock), but in general I can't do it.
I also did fairly recently start with Arkham Asylum on PC in hopes of going through them all (since I own all but only beat Asylum and City on 360 back in the day).

Didn't know that. I beat it years ago but recently downloaded it on steam. I'm going to take my time with it here and there but I guess I'll have to see what this second run is all about.

You can fight Lavos immediately in the second play-through but I wouldn't recommend it and that is far as I'll go as the extras for the NG+.

Really depends on the game but lately I find myself more and more going back to play older games that havent played in years. Usually shorter games. Immersive sims and games like Mass Effect series that truly have branching story lines that can differ from playthrough to playthrough also call me back.

Hint: There's a total of 15 endings.

I think a a few Zelda and Mario games lend themselves to being beaten twice Ocarina of Time, Link to the past/between worlds, Odyssey. These are games with enough action and problem solving to keep you entertained but they aren't massive enough to hit the wall of getting tired of mechanics or repetition
