The NFL has an upper crust that seems to almost never bottom out- Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Green Bay. They have key players leave or retire, coaches change, QB’s get old, etc and they never fall below 8 or so wins. They never have high draft picks but replace and move on because of how strong the organization is.
Mickey put the Saints in that category because of our success since 2006. He thought extending key players, pushing cap, hiring Allen bc he knows the culture, and trading for targeted players (Olave, Trautman, etc) would reload us.
He was obviously incorrect. The question is….does he realize that. If last nights game didn’t show him, I don’t know what will. This team has bottomed out and needs a hard reset. If he tells reporters in his post season pressers that we are not as far away as it seems, had bad injury luck, etc then he should be fired bc it’s then clear he is still convinced that we are like the upper class of the NFL. We are clearly not right now.

The Saints' / Loomis' strategy was not like the organizations mentioned. Loomis and the Saints went all in on an aging Brees to try and get a 2nd Super Bowl and it would have worked if not for some insanely miraculous plays by opponents in playoffs or insanely questionable calls from officials.

Organizations like the Packers and Steelers move on from aging QBs/players before they get too old and don't extend them.

I'm sick and damn tired of y'all whining about THE CALL.

Yeah, it sucked. really did. But you know what? The Saints still had a chance to win the game and Brees didn't come through.

Later that day, the Patriots and Chiefs were in a similar situation. Went to OT. Brady suddenly turns it up a notch, takes them down the field on first drive and scores TD.

Unfortunately, Brees could not do the same.

Pittsburgh

Their current GM graduated from Rummel/Tulane and started out with Saints. Spent the past 20+ years in Pittsburgh.

Loomis made crappy trades, traded away loads of Draft choices, and then had to sign old players to dead money deals-

Yeah. I don't think anyone would confuse the Rooneys for the Bensons.

Loomis is where our troubles begin. Get rid of him and bring in fresh eyes.

I typically agree playing the victim is not beneficial. But when you’re on the receiving end of the most blatant non call in literal league history, that if called, would have almost assuredly ended the game in our favor. It’s difficult to let go of, it killed my fandom and I have a hard time believing in the integrity of the league after that.

That game doesn't go to OT if Dee Ford doesn't jump offsides.

I think the Saints front office controls the dialogue by financing Saints Report. It is so overboard, its almost inconceivable it could be anything else. Although, its hard to get unbiased news now from either side. I never thought it would get to Saints message boards

Seriously, how do you think your comment would have gone over on this Saints board????? ??

*No call". Pretty much showed how the NFL is corrupt.

As for Tom Brady, well that's Goodell's boy. The good looking guy that can bring in TV ratings. Of course they're good , but it helps to get a nudge by the refs , not to mention it was the New England market.

Also guess who New England's going to play?

Well the Los Angeles Rams , who had recently relocated back to the second biggest TV market a couple of years before. This was an easy business decision for the NFL to boost ratings on the West Coast.

Why do you think the Chiefs are on prime time?

Yes they are good, but they've got the NFL poster boy in Mahomes.

Oh and more eyeballs because of his tightend , Mr. Taylor Swift.

If you watch this season, the Chiefs have gotten calls go their way in several games.

I will not be surprised if somehow the Kansas City Chiefs get a penalty called their way against Buffalo or the Ravens in the playoffs

The biggest mistake Mickey made was putting his trust into Dennis Allen. You can’t have a vision and put your vision into his hands to execute it.

They moved on from the mistake, but it will take time to repair the damage. The best way out this mess is swallowing some pride for next year and nailing the next couple drafts to reload young talent.

We’ll see what happens.

And ironically, a missed roughing the passer, or hands to the face of a QB, call would have extended the Sains drive in OT when Fowler? smacked Brees in the face as he was releasing. Which also does not address the fact that Johnson hugged & pulled MT while the ball was in the air, which was another missed PI (3rd or 4th of the game) and would have put the ball on the Rams side of the 50.

For at least 3 years the team on the field late in the season includes guys you never heard of.

Name the WR’s and RB’s from Monday night.

Mickey Loomis is terrible at roster building and if he didn’t suck, Brees would have had 3 rings.

What do you expect? This team lives in the past. We're still playing a 15 year old song after every touchdown.
