My wife and I saw this trailer when it released a few months ago and we immediately said it looked horrible and we wouldn't waste our time on it.

Fast forward to yesterday when my father-in-law said he came across it on Prime so he watched it. He mentioned it in passing and recommended we watch it as well.

So we did.

Talk about a night and day difference between the trailer and the actual movie. Holy hell.

The movie is good.

It won't win any awards or anything, but it was fun. It did what a movie is supposed to do and entertained.

It was fun and had good parts. Krampus Character was the best part of the movie. Rock and the antagonist was terrible. Chris Evans did his best and was okay. JK Simmons was halfway decent in his limited role. Lucy Liu I mean I don't even know what that character was for.

C overall don't regret watching it but probably will never watch again and will barely remember it 5 years from now

“Red One” is a big flaming turd. I won’t bag in an original concept big release studio movie too much but it bombed for a reason.

I just love that The Rock said he was such in awe watching Oppenheimer in IMAX that he called his producer and said “We need to get Red One in IMAX!” It doesn’t get more unintentionally funny than that.

I think regardless the movie has been a victim of two things 1) People are getting burnt out on the same cookie cutter films from The Rock and 2) The Guardians of the Galaxy formula has been run into the ground by Hollywood and Red One just looked like another run of the mill Guardians style movie.

Actually it does when you realize that what The Rock actually did was text a picture of his bare chest to the director and said that needed to be seen on Imax.

quote:

Dwayne Johnson in his latest Variety interview says he sent a pic of his bare chest and Imax screen to the director thinking people want to see his chest on the biggest screen possible.

It was fun, I liked an original story for once rather than another retread

The Rock is getting tiresome and that really took away from the overall movie

Exactly. Anyone who thinks otherwise need to adjust expectations.

That movie would have been better if JK Simmons had been in The Rock's role and found another Santa.

Same. It's just another Marvel knockoff set at Christmas. If you love CGI as the star of a film, you'll love Red One. And Dwayne Johnson is looking and acting tired. The guy is monotone as an actor.

With it being a Christmas movie and a movie made for all ages, they should have made it less raunchy
I thought the movie and storyline were awful

I've been told it wasn't very good but still far and away the best thing the Rock has been in over the past decade

You rounded up 57 minutes?

It was a good movie for what it was. Bunch of pretentious Scrooges up in here.

We enjoyed it. It’s a good rental and Evans was good

I can see why it bombed. Too Raunchy for small kids and looks too cheesy for adults. Not sure who their target market was
