Jimbo
Coach O
Norvell
Bill Belichick
Sumlin

Who else you got?

A handful of coaches got huge contracts because their star QB made their team look good

Has there ever been a successful coach in the history of the league that was successful without a competent QB?

I’m talking consistent playoff wins and a Super Bowl or two.

I guess it comes down to how you define competent.

The Ravens with Flacco as their QB won a Super Bowl, won the AFC North twice, and made the playoffs six times.

Gruden with the Bucs with Brad Johnson and that motley crew.

49ers run with Kaepernick, maybe.

Harbaugh with Flacco, but it depends what you mean by competent. Gruden also won with Brad Johnson at qb

ETA: Damn you Abu

Jimbo has always been good.
128–48 record
8–2 in Bowls

I'm surprised WVU decided against hiring him.

Rich Gannon having a career MVP year at 37 years old made Bill Callahan look good until it went tits up in the Super Bowl.

won his first Super Bowl with Brady doing not much more than just managing a run first offense.
2001 New England was 22nd in the NFL is passing.
Even his next 2 titles they were 9th and 11th in passing.

Brady was good and very efficient, but wasn't "carrying" them at that time.

won 3 more after morphing Brady into a record setting GOAT.

No other answer matters. Brett Favre personally caused almost 10 years of LSU doldrums.

Extremely underrated coach. Won each of his three SBs with a different starting QB and different starting main RB.
