I'm remember as a kid and even as a high schooler opening up all presents on Christmas and maybe getting a few dollars along the way.

For the last 2 years both my kids want nothing but cash. No presents just cash.

Has anybody else's kids joined this movement.

It's because over time people have gotten lazier and lazier and just give cash or gift cards, and kids have gotten used to that.

There's no (or very little) sentiment behind gifts anymore IMO.

For example: last year my 14 year old ended up with around $800 and he used it to by an Oculus and other things for about a 4 month period

Friend,

Cash and gift cards are not socially acceptable gifts for Christmas. CDs, bonds that mature after a recipient turns 18, especially I-bonds when the interest rate is high, and mutual funds are the best alternative for those requesting either cash or gift cards for Christmas.

Yours,

Hoping the pendulum swings hard the other way and Christmas becomes about faith and family and gratitude, not about buying as much shite as humanly possible because the TV commercials tell you to

What Christmas has become is the most successfully marketing psyop ever executed.

Only one of my teens wanted cash but we went with gift cards but they've all made some deals with the grandparents to do some chores in order to earn some cash.

Side note: actually excited for this year's gift openings since I think we nailed it.

We do our best to keep that at the forefront...

This'll be first Christmas in awhile that no one close to us is in a significant health struggle; I'm just grateful for that...

I have 2 nephews and a niece in college. They all ask for money "for food". I give them food gift cards.

It’s because 90% of the presents you actually open as a teen is bull shite and stuff you dont want

I've heard several stories from coworkers about this. I'm not giving anyone fricking cash for a present

I have no problem with this. Giving cash means less shopping for me. I always get a nice thank you note telling me what they bought with it.

At least with cash they can get something they actually want. 90% of presents are usually things people wouldn't have actually picked out purchase for themselves.

Even though the current limit is $18,000, just tell them if you give them cash you have to take taxes out of it and report it to the IRS.

Get them early.

At about 15, I definitely wanted money instead of some pastel flannel shirt the saleslady at Parisian fooled my grandmother into thinking all the kids wanted.

Same, and it requires serious effort these days. Its tough. The white women are all brainwashed. Like I said earlier, it's the most successful marketing psyop in human history. My wife would think nothing of spending $1,500 on Christmas presents for the kids and taking 50,000 pictures while they open them all, and it all ending up in a pile and hardly ever getting played with again.

Enjoy it sir.

I don’t like that my kids know what they’re getting, no way I’d give them cash.

Now grandparents give them cash but I can’t control that
