has Sony put out any comic related stuff, aside from Venom, that has been good that did not have Marvel with a hand in it?

I was more interested in the original character than a reconned guy taking out poachers or hunters.

The film looked attractive even if the Rhino CGI is marginal.

That's dissappointing. I was looking forward to this one. I'll still watch it, but I don't like the sound of this news.

and i normally woudln't care what critics say or what not, but 16% is really bad regardless of how you want to spin it.

Even the studio knows it’s trash. They forfeited the IMAX screens to Interstellar earlier this week.

How much longer before people stop taking these Sony Spiderman spinoff roles?

Sony announced yesterday that they are done with making these awful spider man spinoffs. This was the last nugget they shat out before flushing

I think I'd rate the movies Sony made w/o Marvel's help this way

Tier 1 - So well done any flaws are quickly forgotten
Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2

Tier 2 - pretty good but the flaws are more obvious and harder to ignore
Amazing Spider-Man

Tier 3
- good parts (certain actors' performances and action scenes) more or less undone by bad overall storytelling and weird decisions
Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom: The Last Dance

Tier 4 - horrible but kind of fun to make fun of
Madame Web

Tier 5 - horrible but so painfully dull and derivative it's not even "good" bad.
Morbius

I could see some people wanting to push Venom up to tier 2 and I wouldn't question them b/c it did have some cool stuff. I assume Kraven will be somewhere in the 3/4 range w/a lean towards 4 considering he apparently says things along the lines of "And then she died. I never saw her again."

Idk why anyone expects anything different out of Sony trying to turn Villains into Anti-hero’s

The trailer immediately told me this was dog shite. The only place Kraven has in film is being a stone cold adversary of Spider-Man. He never needed his own movie where’s he’s a stupid conservationist animal lover.

Sony fricking blows and they always will. The Venom movies are Sunday afternoon nap material to fall asleep to.

Toss in Madame Web and Morbius and I seriously have no idea how they get the money to even make these.

Wife and I saw it as a matinee today.

We have no familiarity with the comic and only became aware of it during the opening titles.

Probably a ~15 people in the theater - most over 40 (if not 50). We are 55+.

Viewed it as a mildly entertaining action movie. Plus my wife like the title character's fitness lol.

Russell Crowe looks heavy.

The 3 main actors were not Russian (which their characters were) but most of the others appeared to be (or east European) which made me chuckle.

I'd recommend watching it at home... nothing in it was really worthy of theater prices...

From 7 years ago...

“Spider-Man is the biggest Marvel character. He is the jewel in the crown. Such an amazing icon. He’s a very different kind of hero because he is, quite simply, the greatest superhero of all time.

Kevin Feige.

I remember him coming out and making this declarative statement about Spider-man and thought 'What an odd thing to say", ala Bart Simpson.

As I recall, Phase 4 was winding down and the PLAN was to go forward with Brie Larson and Tom Holland to be lead things in the MCU forward.

Things haven't gone so well for Disney Marvel as of late.

Wasn't this the movie where they decided hunter wasn't going to have any guns? Great call

My favorite part was the team up at the end when he asks his partner - Are you kravin’ the hunt? And his partner responds - Morb than you know!

My favorite part was when the main character yelled, "It's Kraven time!"
