While speaking with Deadline, Pascal teased that Gerwig's upcoming movie will be "a very new take on Naria. It's all about rock and roll." Pascal emphasized that she has "never seen anything like [Gerwig]" and reminisced on when "she barged into my office and said Little Women has been done wrong" when "she hadn't even made Lady Bird yet." From that moment, Pascal asserted that she had complete confidence in Gerwig and that "there's nobody like Greta."

Seems like a real risk. But her arc as a filmmaker is pretty good right now so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

This is really unfair. She has made some great films well before Barbie. Lady Bird is terrific as is her take on Little Women. Let’s give her a chance with this material and maybe refrain from calling excellent directors “dumb bitches”?

Well if it's one thing fans love it's taking a 75 year old proven and beloved series and offering a fresh new take on it. I swear these people never learn. Or more likely they know exactly what they are doing. I love the idea of starting with The Magician's Nephew, but if you don't take seriously who Aslan is then you have no business getting close to this series of books.
