So what you’re saying is the guy that was the LB coach for the SB winning Chiefs and who Ty Mathieu called the smartest coach he has been around, didn’t know how to coach LBs? Speights was smart but hurt a lot and the speed got him. His coverage skills lacked. He was a good LB but never materialized due to those 2 issues. Whit Weeks talked about how smart he was last season but being smart and running down college QBs every week are 2 much different things. The NFL has Matt Stanford’s than less Jayden Daniels.

Not hating on him and you are correct he is a nfl linebacker that is something in itself. Just shows how horrible House was.

There were many times when Speights whiffed/barely tried to tackle guys last year when in perfect position to make plays. Maybe he was playing hurt, but he was just flat-out bad regardless of House's shitty scheme/coaching.

Playing LB is really hard in college, a lot of future pros look ordinary in school. Wide hash marks, spread O’s, lineman can go downfield a few yards etc. heck just look at how our fans view Perkins and WW the last couple of years- opinions change weekly from all time super star to scrub who should be benched.
