Austin getting 3 BBQ to take the lead, with the list not even including Franklin's, is an absolute disgrace.

Franklin may have asked to not be included. There are some very famous places that have done that. Don't know.

Dallas only having 1 spot with all that money in Dallas?

Michelin has sniffed around NOLA the past two years, I do wonder if they will ever come.

I am happy for Nobie's to get a bib. They are good people who run three of my favorite restaurants in Houston.

Not happy with my prospects of getting a table there

Franklin's isn't exactly overrated but there are lots of other bbq places that are just as good for the average eater. If you did a blind tasting you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. And, several places are pushing the envelope a bit more with non-traditional flavors/ingredients. Interstellar, LeRoy & Lewis and KG bbq are probably the most notable.

No idea on what basis the 3 places listed were reviewed and don't really care. Maybe they didn't want to wait in for hours (joking). There's lots of great classic bbq plus new variants all over the area.

I have never been to any of these, but I am surprised to see BBQ restaurants getting Michelin stars.

Friend,

While not surprising I am nonetheless disappointed with a few on this list. Tatemo is good, but is not deserving of a star. Le Jardinier is very good, but not to the level a one star used to require.

Street to Kitchen is not even an average restaurant. There is but one note that the chef understands and that is unquenchably spicy. It does not take great talent or effort to make everything taste like fire. I enjoyed my first time to Truth BBQ, but the second visit was forgettable.

The fact that Michelin continues to ignore pizzerias in its guide, while it is more than open to tacos, Thai food, and BBQ reiterates how out of date the guide has become. Not that there is a pizzeria in Texas worthy of awards, just a general sentiment I hold.

Yours,

I think it’s in line with what they’ve done in other recent market expansions, thinking primarily about that food stall in SE Asia (Singapore? HK?) that received a one star in recent years.

I live near Corkscrew. It's top notch but now the lines will be even more unbearable

My friend bartends at LeRoy & Lewis.

I haven't been back to Austin since they opened the brick & mortar, and I was hoping to pop in for a drink and a visit next time I was in town, but it may not be as easy now .

Corkscrew
that’s the only one of all those places I’ve been, obviously it was great…but the line was something else. And quite a few of the folks we talked to had driven in from other states just to eat there

I have a CSB about Corkscrew

I was in town from Miami or DC one weekend and my parents live in The Woodlands. We had gone food shopping and I mentioned we should get lunch. Kind of behind the Wendy's on Sawdust there is now a windshield repair place. What was there before was this little food truck/hut called Corkscrew BBQ which had no line. We had it and absolutely loved it. It "closed" only for us to realize they had a brick and mortar location. We've been to the Old Town Spring location a few times, but nothing will beat finding that diamond in the rough randomly and now it has a Michelin Star attached to it

Lol, I remember it fondly. I remember when they first started using the numbering system as they started getting really popular. Before using it you would walk up and say "who was last" and you would line up after them when they would open. It got nasty a couple of times as some asshats wouldn't follow that structure and all hell would break loose

Houston’s Kâu Ba just won Michelin's Bib Gourmand. Now it's closed?

I was very surprised to see them on the list for bib... went once, service was abysmal and the food was nothing to write home about, now this lol
