Greater New Orleans, Inc. estimates more than 160,000 people traveled to the metro area for the three concerts, bringing in more than $500 million to the city.
Greater New Orleans says nearly 200,000 concert tickets were sold for the three-night concert series, with each fan averaging around $1,300 spent on lodging, food, merchandise and other expenses, per a U.S. Travel Association report.
“I think about the musicians working at bars and restaurants that have extra gigs because this was going on. I think about the artists that sold extra pieces of art this week,” New Orleans & Co. president and CEO Walt Leger said.
Leger says that with 100 percent hotel occupancy on Friday and Saturday, and the hundreds of millions pouring in over the weekend, the Swift event rivaled the $900 million economic impact that New Orleans sees during Carnival.

I wonder if the City will use that to make the tourist areas less of a shithole. (They won't)
The timeline for the Superdome is ticking. Within the next decade or 15 years, New Orleans and the State are going to have to build a new facility. There is only so many times one can upgrade a 65+ year old building with terrible surrounding infrastructure.

Half of that goes to taxes.

People have an unhealthy obsession with Taylor Swift. Idk if I’ve ever seen a fanbase absolutely worship a famous singer like swifties do.

I never really paid attention before the New Orleans concert, but girls who listen to Taylor Swift skyrocketed to the top of my “total fricking weirdo” list after seeing them all over Instagram all weekend. Super creepy and cultish to pay $1500 to dress up like a skank and listen to some mid singer so you can post about it

200,000 tickets sold x $1300= $260,000,000. Where do they come up with the other $240,000,000?

Uhhhh, hotel costs, eating at restaurants, drinking, doing touristy things while in town and not at the concert, paying for Uber and Lift rides, etc., etc..
Those folks didn't just ride into town, stay at someone's house and then leave right after the concert. Many of them spent days here leading up to the event.

That was in ADDITION to the ticket purchases-----or are you that dense that you don't understand basic economics.
The $1300 average was spent on LODGING, FOOD, MERCHANDISE and OTHER EXPENSES---------------------on top of ticket pricing.

They calculate that like cops do dope busts; a lot of exaggerating.
TS was certainly a plus in tourism for the city, but $500M seems more than a bit ridiculous. And obviously, the bulk of the ticket revenue went to the artist.

A good chunk of that economic impact will go to state tax as well. Yet the OT will sit here and tell you to let NOLA sink cause it’s a “shithole”
The state can’t afford for New Orleans to fail, the city brings in way too much money. A strong New Orleans is good for LA.

$1,300 x 160,000 is not $500M.

Its not the State's fault.
Its the people of New Orleans fault.

Think of all the men who handed their daughter/wife a credit card and said "Have Fun".
So they could go to the deer camp or watch football in peace.

This a great summary for why people are broke.

Swifties don’t really come off as the art gallery type
