Wife (no pics) and I went shopping for new living room sofas today. Found a decent leather sofa/loveseat combo we liked. The “sale” price was $6k.
And most of the shite out there today is ugly. Can somebody explain the popularity of the built-in chaise lounge?

And it will probably last half as long as your last couch.

I've never liked it but my dog seems to appreciate it.

I love ours, we had a faux leather couch from about 10 years ago that we recently replaced since it was shedding really bad.

We got a few pieces from Wayfair and have been happy.
A family friend of my dad made a nice living selling furniture, his advice to us was spend money on wooden things and way less on anything with fabric. Wood pretty much stays in style, fabrics come and go.

My mother in law has had the same couch for 38 years. Still in perfect shape. Everything now is imported trash.

Fiance and I are just going to start going to estate sales looking for furniture.

Now that I have an outfitted woodshop, I've started making all of our furniture. Before long, every piece of furniture in the house will have been made by me.
It's not any cheaper when it's all said and done, but it's definitely built to last.

Pass! I don't want some else's casting couch. I'll pay the extra money for NIB without bodily fluids.

my mother bought a new sofa in 1972-ish and me and my wife finally took it to the dump in 2009 when we moved in to our house. I had it in my apt as a single then married and kids.. great sofa. most comfortable ever.

So stupid. No bodily fluids on bedroom sets sans mattress, dining room sets, end tables, desks, hutches, etc.
But you be you.

plenty of good stuff out there. much made in North Carolina. think Hancock and Moore. A based couch is 6-8k and more like 12k for a leather sectional.
