Watching Dexter for the first time...

I had heard for years that it goes to crap after Season 4. And yes, I agree that Season 4 is amazing...but I have enjoyed 5, 6, and 7. The Hanks kid was a weak villain, but the tableaus were twisted. I also feel that Jordan Chase and his guys were much more disturbing villains that Trinity. There is a lot going on in Season 7, so the jury is out. But man, the eye candy in this season is ridiculous. Hannah, Nadia, and all of the girls from the Fox Hole. Hell, just the random extras walking around in g-strings is something else...

How many serial killers can one man stumble on in one precinct?
After a while, Dexter became “Serial Killer She Wrote”

People are overdramatic on social media. For me, I thoroughly enjoyed every season but the last. Season 7, with Ray Stevenson, is fantastic.

5 was decent and I've alwasy said is the FAR more logical stopping point than 4. Stopping after 4 is horrendous advice.
6 takes a dip and is worse than all seasons before it, so this is the point whree you're kinda wavering on your overall thoughts. 7 is worse than 6, so now you're fully in "ok this show has really gone downhill" territory and wondering if it's worth finishing out. And 8 is the worst of them all and is so awful that you wonder if the writers were intentionally pulling some kind of prank on the audience.

I liked 7 and thought the show should’ve ended there. Season 8 was absolutely terrible though and really took the shine off the show for me.

Seriously, though, you are wrong. Trinity was the GOAT.

Oh, I agree- Trinity is the GOAT. But the idea of 5 fratty guys getting together for years to rape, torture, and murder women, just because- man, that's sickening. Trinity had at least some method to his madness.

I don't think 5, 6, and 7 would be rated as low if season 8 hadn't been the absolute worst season and finale of any tv show ever.

There is a drop in quality in the later seasons, but the real problem with Dexter is that the formula got stale and repetitive and then it just seemingly ends out of nowhere. If you could go in blindly, having no idea how many seasons or episodes there are, I don't think anyone could predict the series is about to end before that final episode.
People gave it the same pass they gave GOT Season 7 in real time- real criticism came once everyone realized it wasn't, actually, building to anything in particular. It's the anti-Breaking Bad in that way

You think Season 8 was bad, guess you didn't watch the newer seasons of Dexter when they came out. That show was crap from the onset, and only got worse.

S4? That show sucked after season 1

I love season 2 and 4, but season 3 is kind of boring. I don't think the later seasons are any worse than 3. And season 1 is very good, but I also think people forget about all the goofy shite we get in season 1.

Dexter's sister is easily one of the worst actresses of modern times.

Nah. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me ... you can't get fooled again.

She's one of the main reasons I couldn't hang with it. Wanted her gone from day one.

My mom loved "Murder She Wrote". Always joked that they should have called it "Murder She Created".

Similar. I hated they killed off his wife, but the other 3 seasons were good enough. His sister being in love with him was creepy and weird.

The Murder She Wrote chick is probably a serial killer.

Wanted to bump this thread since I am finally watching this show for the first time and we are near the end of Season 2 after hearing from relatives about the greatness of this show.
Personally it has grown stale for me, how many serial killers are there in Miami and any scene with Debra is hard to watch. The show is highly repetitive but I think that can be said for any sort of cop show. Despite all of this, I will finish this show.

That's a long way to go for a show you are already growing tired of in Season 2.
