Bourbon Question

So from time to time I like to support bourbon raffles just to try to get rare or hard to find bottles.
Lady luck finally allowed me to win one, and now I am trying to figure out if I should keep what I won or attempt to sell.
The bottle is an EH Taylor Grain of the Gods, and the secondary market has it listed for $1500 on up.
Does my enjoyment of bourbon make me keep it, or do I try to give myself a nice pay day?
What say you F&D board?

Personally I wouldn't sell it, but I wouldn't be above trading it to get multiple other bottles that I normally wouldn't pay secondary for.

I have many means of adding revenue to my household, selling bourbon isn't one of them.
Drink it.
Drink it.

That would be a bottle I kept for special times with special people

I'm a big believer in drinking the bourbons that I get but I would second the above statement. Should be able to get a really good haul in a trade.

If, and only if, you can appreciate the bottle that you won, keep it. If it is above your palate, trade it, sell it to someone that has appreciation for it. Money value shouldn’t have anything to do with it, JMHO…

It’s bourbon, keep it, drink it and enjoy it. It’s an amazing pour (not quite as good as the 18 year old marriage, but still amazing)
Part of the reason these bottles are so expensive is that people just keep selling them at higher prices and actually drinking them.

You'll likely never have a chance to own that bottle again, but I personally would trade it for some other high end bottles and some cash.

No matter how good it is, you won't drink it and say, "Damn, that's worth $1500 dollars.' I'd sell it and buy a variety of other bottles.

I would pop it and share with friends, but I have friends who have shared very nice bottles with me over the years.

I dunno. I've had some bottles that I would say were worth the price of admission. I don't think this particular bottle would for me though.

Sounds from the OP that he didn’t pay that much for it.
I’d keep it and drink with friends who appreciate good, rare whiskey.

Ask yourself if you would pay "$1,500 on up" for that bottle. Because that is what you are doing if you drink it. Be okay with that either way you decide to go.

I'd trade it for 40 bottles of Eagle Rare

Investments are investments and hobbies are hobbies, but practicality should be considered as well.
I enjoy bourbon, but take way the perceived value from this bourbon economy, and would I enjoy it more than a glass of Makers or Buffalo Trace? Who knows.
I say that while being very particular about vino
although I'd say that the relationship between price and quality is more observable with wine than whiskey.
From what I've seen with my friends who have a bourbon hobby, EH seems to be a trophy many people seek, and something that makes a statement if it's in your collection.
Bring the downvotes

what'd you pay for it? $100?
unless you're poor and hard up for money... keep the bottle and enjoy it on special occasions.

Does the potential $1,500 change anything for you?
I’d keep it, it may lose value in the short term, but it will continue to grow long term (like in 4-5 years, not 20).
Better yet, drink that shet, you’ll never get another one- you probably won’t ever see another one.
