Explain how towing someone's car is legal

I just saw a brand new looking BMW SUV on a town truck with the alarm going off and never thought of the actual process before.
How can a big truck just pick someone's 90k vehicle off the ground and then hold it random until said person pays out the arse to get it back? How is that legal? If someone's dog is on my grass does the pound hold the dog hostage until someone pays a fortune to get it back?

You are parked on a public street or private property.

the best part is, they do it on streets that your tax dollars pay for.

Riverside Towing is a terrorist organization. Prove me wrong.

The fact that you ask this shows you're too stupid to even understand the real answers

I agree. Seems very sketchy.

You voted for it.
Or didn’t vote against it.
Municipality grants authority to remove illegally parked vehicles.

Man I remember hearing stories about their antics when I went to LSU. Somebody I knew lived at Campus Crossing on Brightside. Riverside moved their vehicle to a no parking area to tow a different vehicle. When they came back they towed hers, too. It was all on camera and she still had hell getting her vehicle out.

If you don’t pay your note, that has a tendency of happening. Turns out, banks like getting their money back.

It is the most basic aspect of FAFO. Do something you are not supposed to do , then get something you do not want. I do not see how or why it being a "90k" car matters. Realistically most would probably prefer towing a cheaper car, because the towee may not have enough money to get it out and then tow company keeps the car and sells it for more profit !

Pick one of the following. They're all legal and deserving reasons of being towed away
- Parked on someone else's private property
- Parked in a spot where he's blocking a driveway
- Parked in a business' loading zone
- Hadn't paid his car note in months and the bank is repo'ing it

Terrorist: the new definition for anyone who does something we disagree with

I knew a guy who owned a small tow business and repo'd cars in the middle of the night on the side. Got paid good money by the banks. Dude kept two handguns in his truck locked and loaded at all times.

As a former Ford Motor Credit employee, back in the day you'd need a signed release from the payer of the loan on the vehicle. I guess that has since changed. An illegally parked vehicle is another matter. If there's a sign that says "park at your own risk" then that's what happens potentially. Hello tow truck!!

quote:yep. It seems like the Riverside hate on the OT has died down over the years but we used to be at war with them. Truly the biggest pieces of shite I have ever met. I couldn’t imagine making a living by terrorizing local college students who don’t have the money to pay your insane fees

I've said before how my brother got in a fistfight with a tow truck driver at LSU. Cost him a semester at home working a shite job. He went back with a new attitude and sinned no more.
