How many patriots here have won the great war against fire ants in their yards?

To me, you guys are superheroes. Another breed. Great Men of status and accomplishment. Also frick my itchy and scratchy life.
You:
Me:
Those sneaky little sons of bitches. The spawn of hell, developed in the Beelzebub lab along with cancer, boybands and Gumps.
I've easily spent $100 bucks this summer on killing them. Problem is, I live on a park where they aren't treated and they come in no matter what. Broad spread, ant pile treatment, granules, spray, everything, all the stuff that usually works doesn't this year. It's like they are bionic ants. And as soon as I step outside they send shitty little subsonic signals to each other alerting them to murder me.
I'm going to set everything on fire. That's my only option.

This ended the war quickly.

War on Fire Ants is like the war on terrorism. Never ending.

Like the "war on drugs" there isn't a war, wars end.

I have almost eliminated them on my one acre with Talstar Sand. I treat the piles.
I have small marking flags. When I see the piles I will mark them and know where to treat.

Many years ago I was losing the fight. In sheer desperation I mixed every chemical/poison I had in the house. Poured on every mound. No more ants. But lots of dead spots in the yard. Lol.

The war is never over.
They never surrender, only regroup and reinforce.
I do like the boiling soapy water method

and Gumps
Funnily enough the initial point of entry for them cited historically is Mobile.

Haven’t had fire ants in my yard for over 2 years. I’m sure I’ll have some this weekend.

Demon WP is my favorite purchase ever. This stuff kills everything. We were one of the first into our neighborhood and anytime there was new construction they had to clear lots and the bugs went running. I sprayed this stuff around our yard and kept everything away. It also took care of our ants, any termites, and spiders we had around.

Fire Ants have definitely played a part in the massive population declines in Bobwhite Quail in the Southeastern US. Even Puerto Rico is infested with them now.

I really think Amdro has just evolved into a treat for them, as I continue to use it and I continue to lose the war.

We killed them all when we treated for webworms.
