The blocked punt was 100% illegal and should have been a 1st down for LSU

The play wasn't a breakdown of special teams, it was a very athletic but illegal play. The blocker was in a low stance because it's illegal to jump up and over a blocker, but the defender was allowed to jump over him. If that isn't going to be called, then they are going to have to change the way they block.

This is for LSU fans that think ST was a total disaster and for lurking Gamecock fans that thought the refs were out to get them and costed them the game. That no-call was bigger than the phantom opi.

I’m pretty sure that rule only applies to the line of scrimmage.

Apparently I’m wrong

Based on my reading the rule that someone posted, it should have drawn a flag.

It also could’ve been called leverage because he pushed off of the blocker’s shoulder.

I didnt watch BK's post game presser until an hour or two ago. He said in that presser that play would be presented to the weekly discussion they have with the SEC officiating staff. BK did everything but call it out as a bad call since he is prohibited from commenting on officiating directly.

I didn't feel like he jumped over the line, but got blocked that way. Close though for sure

I'm pretty sure its illegal for player safety. Even the dude that blocked it almost landed straight up and down on his head. Thats why it's illegal even on punts.

I was at the game, and didn't notice this live, so I didn't have that ammo for USCe fans around me. Not that they would have listened, they absolutely thought they were screwed by the refs, we got every call, and we cheated our way to a win. They kept being mad about having 2 pick sixes that were called back.

I believe Beamer agreed with the call but maybe I’m wrong.

The Lacy catch that the defender hit him out of bounds was illegal and not called so pickem.

Yup.

Penalty was enforced against Iowa last week. Same exact scenario.

We totally did & the LSU player landed on his teammate. Auburn got to kick PAT again.

He shot through the gap, didn't launch up, and the block was made about 3-4 feet off the ground.

Yes, LSU is going to have to change how they block.

Remember it well. Took hours to figure out what the call was for.

In NCAA football, a defensive player cannot jump over a blocker while trying to block a punt:

• Rule: It's a foul for a defensive player to leave their feet and leap into the plane directly above an opponent's body while trying to block a punt.

• Penalty: The penalty for this is a
15-yard penalty and an automatic first down.

• Purpose: The rule was created to prevent players from landing on each other while blocking kicks.
