kind of a spin off of the 'peak you' thread. i don't foresee myself at my age setting the world on fire on any athletic endeavor but as an avid cyclist through the years i had zeroed in on a specific set of personal goals; achieved all but one

- podium at a competitive bike race
- make money from a bike race
- win a bike race
- ride 100 miles in less than 4 hours in a group (3:51 which meant we were averaging almost 26mph for nearly 4 hours)
- complete a solo 40k/25m time trial in under an hour (did it in 56 minutes)
- climb every major mountain east of the MS on a bike

and the one big goal i never met was 'ride to the sun' in Hawaii where you start at sea level (literally dipping your toe into the Pacfiic) and ride up the side of Haleakala which is 10,000+ feet. you have to pack a change of clothes because it gets so cold at the higher elevation. just never could make the trip when i was at my cycling peak and don't see myself ever being in the kind of shape i would need to be in to pull it off now.

i know we have ultimate, golf, running, hiking, mtn climbing, etc. baws on here; what are your goals and which have you achieved?

Every time I set my sights on something like that, I wound up, tearing my body up/tearing it down and taking steps backward healthwise

I did not but am very pleased with what I accomplished athletically prior to age 40. Hiking, cycling and trail running. It is important for a man to have done it, when he is older and can no longer do it, IMHO.

I would have liked to do something like the Shikoku Henro or a month on the Appalachian trail. That, I regret.

I wish I would have worked/trained harder after High School because I know I could have played basketball for a Junior College. I got a lot stronger and had a better basketball IQ and starred on some BREC Div. 2 basketball teams but I never had that "drive." Kids (like I was) think they will have that athletic ability for a long time but it really is peak for only 15-20 years and I decided I liked to drink and party too much. It is what it is. The funny part is that I'm 60 now and no longer drink. Oh well.... What could have been right?

1. See Michael Jordan play in person at a home game for the Bulls - Completed.

2. Run a marathon. Completed x 2.

3. Hit a hole in one. TBD

4. Attend the Masters. TBD

I want to kill a buck big enough to be in Pope and Young record books. I keep shooting the first dink or doe that walks out, though.

I enjoy the learning process so as soon as I get pretty good at a hobby I lose interest in it.

You wouldn't say that if you raced Helltrack.

I can do the last two but no chance at the first two.

I want to achieve 6% BF at 175lbs. At 50 it’s no easy feat, but I’ll keep trying and probably keep failing.

Currently a red belt in taekwondo. Should be testing for my black belt in spring/early summer 2025.

I found out recently there is a sprint triathlon at Oak Mt Stare Park that has my attention. Swim 750m, bike 8 miles, and run 2.5. Haven’t committed to it but I’m already at a point I can run a 5k in 35ish mins and bike frequently on the trails the race would be on. Just gotta work on the swim but have until May.
