Will be going to astros game 9/21 with 14 y/o son

Nothing fancy - good pregame atmosphere, good beer, decent food.

I eat anything. As long as there is a burger, chicken, pizza… he’s good.

TIA

My few thoughts:
- This question has been asked before so there may be some old (but too old) threads you could unearth to get some ideas.
- Houston is a large place with a very diverse food scene. I'm not really into the Asian bugs & grass stuff but would suggest you consider eating something you may not be able to get elsewhere. My preference would lean toward Texas BBQ.
- I think the Astros do fireworks after the Friday night games which is worth staying for.

Hope you have a great trip and time with your son. Sounds awesome.

I would do one of those 2. Parking will be easier in EaDo than near Phoenicia

Truth BBQ is literally 5 minutes away. A little more if you're walking.

Is that new? I’ve gone to the one on S Heights and planning on going out to Brenham.

Cool. Never ate there though. How does it compare to Truth?

HiWay Cantina is the best Tex mex in Houston right now. OP, go there.

Truth’s brisket is better IMO. But J Bar M has better sides, seating, parking, bar and service. Their dirty rice is my favorite.

Truck Yard would be a good choice, when it gets closer to the date check with them to see what food trucks will be there..
Also Rodeo Goat has good hamburgers and decent beer selection. Another great spot is Irma’s Original but might not be a good choice for your son.
