Is this practice considered rude? It seems to be more and more common to see people with air pods or even over-ear headphones on. I'm not talking about when they are sitting at their desk. I'm talking about while walking around the office, heating up food in the kitchen, walking through the halls, going to the bathroom, etc. When I see somebody like this, I assume they don't want to interact with anyone in the office. I can't say I'm a big fan of this trend. It's hard enough to get people to actually work in-person in the office today, but if you are going to do it, at least show up and interact with people.

Yeah yeah, I know.

It’s a great way to avoid interacting with your neighbors.

Same way in the gym. Used to be able to work in on a machine. Now you can't even talk to them to ask.

These are the best when they also overlap on my time to not be at work.

I know ZERO people that are forced into an office and enjoy it..Let them at least have their 20 minutes of not having to hear people like yourself complain

I wear mine all day, but I also work remote. I like having my own little soundtrack playing all day, and I like them for calls so I'm hand free.

It's a generational thing. Annoys the frick out of me too.

I remember years ago before it was this bad being on the Subway in NYC and every single fricking person under 30 had some kind of headphones on.

I like to be aware of my surroundings...

I normally just keep one bud in my ear and have the other ear open. That way I can still hear myself and others. I’m a loud guy as it is and with one in each ear I get pretty loud.

When I worked in an office, I would wear mine 24/7 and most of the time didn’t even have shite playing.

It was just so others (especially the older folks) didn’t ask me completely dumbass questions or stop me to talk about something I couldn’t care any less about.

I wear "aftershocks" pretty much 90% of the time when not at work or sleeping. You can interact with ppl not lose awareness of your surroundings and still talk calls.

This is precisely why I do it when I do it.

People are becoming merged with technology. It won't be long before all interactions with the world will be perceived through some form of digital filter.

Do I think it's a good thing? No, but it's going to happen regardless.

You really have people wearing over the ear headphones walking around your office?
