wife asked me to pick up a few things the other day so i said imma try aldi.

5lb bag of russet potatoes $2.50; pack of vine-ripened tomatoes $1, decent wine $7...

i got a ton of food of groceries (just grabbed a random cardboard box on the floor to load it up in) and the total was like $30.

not everything is a great deal but for the staples, why wouldn't you get it from here? everything is fresh and anytime i hit publix for a couple items it ends up being like $80.

Because they don't provide plastic bags and I don't feel like finding a quarter for the basket.

Not in this market. HEB has a stranglehold.

the cashier will give you one, but i agree thats a PITA but i just grab a carboard box like at coscto and throw everything in it while shopping.

if we need a shopping cart full, mrs cad will be the one doing that.

my wife's sister has a key-ring doodad that holds a quarter.

seems simpler to have the plastic thingie.

eta been decades but i remember LOVING HEB when i lived in texas.

i'd drop aldi in a heartbeat for HEB if we had those here.

For me that's not the issue.. I just don't carry change... I went to Aldi's one time, so far, and didn't have any change and this is a great alternative.. It's not like you ripping them off...

Isn't it easier to just leave a quarter in the car for aldi?

What is it? A small off brand grocery store that you can’t even really go “full” grocery shopping at? It’s overrated as hell. The BR one is trash

We have non-trashy people here. 8-10 giant chicken breasts for less than $13, heck yes. They are a German run company. Sorry you live in the slums.

I keep a good bit of 3D printed quarters in my truck that I figured out the least amount of filament used where it will still work at least once. Have fun with them Aldi.

They have some good stuff and some absolute overpriced garbage.

Unfortunately they don't have enough to make them a one stop shop, which sucks.

yep that's a problem. They have like 4 spices and even something like coconut milk for Thai dishes is apparently too boutique for them.

You clearly have never been or you're just trolling.

One can absolutely go full grocery shopping at Aldi. Hell, I just did this week.
