The islands is in between Seattle and Vancouver (Closer to Vancouver). My daughter was offered a job to run a BNB and spa and I was wondering if anyone had any experience in the area?

It's one of the most beautiful spots in the world, but very isolated.
San Juan Island is a bit more developed. The small town there Eastsound is really nice and has some good restaurants, but other than that, you have to like the outdoors or you wouldn't have a lot to do.
It's a solid ferry ride back to the mainland and then 2 hrs to Seattle.

I spent a weekend kayaking with the orcas and island hopping. Amazing place 20 years ago, otherworldly.

My sister (no pics) lives near there. She likes it. If ypu like damp cloudy chilly winters its for you. No better place in summer.

Gorgeous place. Tons of outdoor activities. Actually temperate environment but can get blustery and sea conditions can be rough in winter
Highly recommend

I was in Victoria a couple of weeks ago, and took the ferry from Seattle . I’m not sure there are many nicer areas than the San Juans. Very sleepy and amazing world class natural beauty.

Exactly how I felt when I visited. Such a cool place. Beautiful. But don’t think I could live there. Very isolated as others have said.
ETA: specifically talking about Orcas Island

This sounds like the setup for a Lifetime movie. Young woman moves to remote island community to run a BandB, meets quirky local townsfolk, has to deal with some kind of crisis and saves the day, with the help of a handsome local guy in flannel with a mysterious past.
To answer your question, I recently took a trip to the PNW (northern Oregon coast), and the area is beautiful and the people are nice. Not as “woke” as i expected.

A girl I briefly dated just moved to Orca Island. Her Instagram is incredible. Looks like heaven on earth up there

The coast is the exact opposite in many places.

It's where One-Eye Willy's pirate ship is hidden.

I worked on a farm on Orcas Island about 15 years ago. Probably the prettiest place I’ve ever been. Not sure there’s any better place in the world to sea kayak.
It’s a bit small, obviously, and some amenities are a bit out of reach, or are at least a great hassle. The people are (or were) friendly, eclectic, and resourceful.

The coast is not a woke place. All the woke people live in cities, Eugene, bend, Portland, Salem. Smaller towns and communities in the sticks and on the coast are for the most part extremely conservative and blue collar.
