In terms of economic activity, yes. That also doesn’t make it right.

I could believe that on a net basis, but there are probably a lot of shaky assumptions in that projection.

Increases on public services (including healthcare and education) while not contributing to the tax base boosts the economy?

When you consider they are paying into the mechanism that allows able Bodied Americans to do nothing. Then that’s not good. I’d rather pay an American better money and not have to pay him to stay home

I think that's completely wrong and it's sad to see an official government office basically endorse flaunting American laws because of feels or maybe the CBO is yet another progressive owned property.

Just imagine how utterly fricking retarded someone would have to be in order to believe that. In other words, a fricking Democrat.

It sounds like there must be a lot of undocumented progressive-liberals working in the CBO.

The gate at the border was left open to fight wage inflation.

This. Anyone who thinks that's good for an economy long term is ignorant. It isn't sustainable.

They will also boost crime, increase government spending on handouts and consume government resources that would otherwise be used to help poor U.S. citizens. There is no easy solution to the lack of labor, but wide open borders has not been it.

The CBO saying anything other than a reduction in gluttonous spending by career politicians will reduce the deficit is an embarrassing joke. The cheap labor from wide open borders for the last four years has not reduced the deficit or inflation.

It will lower wages for the lower classes and introduce competition in the drug trades and gangs too.

Ok who wants to research original CBO estimates and compare to actual results? I suspect they are very wrong (though not as bad as liberal think tanks)

undocumented immigration first came to the attention of the general public in the Jordan Commission’s initial recommendations (summed up by Rep Barbara Jordan: “those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave.") in 1995

the deficit that fiscal year was $164 billion (2.2 % of GDP)

the deficit for fiscal year 2024 as estimated by the CBO itself is $1.9 trillion (5.8% of GDP)

draw your own conclusions

I am old enough to remember her. Black, Dem member of Congress. I usually disagreed with her on the issues, but she was a serious person back at a time when most people on both sides actually cared about the country. So different than today’s shite show.

The US would be much worse off economically if not for immigration. We would have the same terrible demographics of Europe and Japan (and now China) forward.

Now I’d like to see the border shut down and legal immigration massively expanded to achieve this result.

Really I’d like to see citizenship run like Amazon or Chase. Roughly the bottom 10% should be let go every year and replaced with new hires.
