Who here hates Microsoft Teams?

Seriously why can’t I open a file and a chat at the same time? Such a clunky tool.
Great idea. Poor execution. It feels undercooked like so many other Microsoft products.

sounds like a hardware/user issue

I actually don’t mind MS Teams but haven’t used many other similar tools so unsure what to compare it to.

Not for the reasons you stated, but I.

It is quite amazing a company with so much experience and resources built this product.
It doesn't matter though. My company will pay MS money no matter how clunky their products are.
My coworkers will use Word for two lines of notes instead of using a simple .txt or .md file that is 1000x smaller and more resource efficient.

The common user doesn't know that notepad or write even exists.

I don;t hate Teams. I hate how Teams controls my entire work week with all the damned meetings.

I'm generally anti-microsoft but have to admit I like Teams, and Outlook - the rest can go to hell.

Sometimes I'll write a message in notepad++, save it, then send it in a message in teams.

I have the hardest time figuring out how to present a file while seeing my key audience. I find Zoom much easier in this regard.

Best thing about Teams was corporate adopting it and ditching the VOIP desk phones and giving me back 4U of rack space.
So far it's been okay and no issues on Windows (that's about the only thing i use my corporate laptop for....if they would just fix the Linux client so that it actually works that would be great, then i could ditch the corp laptop altogether.

I didn’t like Teams until we lost it to Google workspace and now have 4 chrome applications to replace it and none of them quite as well as it did simple tasks.

just had to chime in that out of nowhere this new 'meeting notes' tab appeared during a meeting today i had scheduled in teams.
Surprise! Microsoft just thought they'd throw that in without any warning.

Teams is... Fine. It has quirks and things I don't like but it gets the job done. I much prefer slack for a chat app, but I don't get to choose the.
Doesn't teams come as part of like the standard enterprise package that Microsoft makes you buy for Outlook and other stuff?

MS is under scrutiny for more anti-competitive behavior for this right now.

I do, but they were already fully entrenched when I started, so I’ve accepted it’s not going anywhere.

We use it at work. Once you get use to the functionality, the add ins you do, the seamless interface with SharePoint sites or shared OneDrive folders. Gotten to really like it.

Teams is the best option of the tools out there, which is why it took over so quickly.
I do agree it has some works in user interface that are not aligned with typical products and require a few extra steps than necessary. Such as not intuitive to open documents outside of teams in 365, or quirks with device settings in meetings vs chat.
That being said the whole thing was seemingly built on top of SharePoint. So pretty amazing it works as well as it does

Teams is great. I feel like it’s still just scratching the surface. Copilot integration will make it that much better.
