Am I a jerk for peeing in the pool at pool parties?

I mean the salt water or chorine kill the germs anyway. It’s a major inconvenience to have to get out the pool a bunch of times at a party. I was at my brother’s in-laws yesterday for a get together, and were using their pool. I think I peed 5 in the pool 5 times.

Is there a general consensus on the OT, or are we a house divided on this issue?

The thing about peeing in the pool is no one knows you pee in the pool unless you start a thread on a message board about it.

People aren't jerks because of an action. They are jerks because of their personality.

Since urine is sterile there are no germs to kill. Not sure about your STDs though.

the problem with peeing in someone else's pool is you never know if they have that pee indicator additive. I'm not sure if it really exists, but if it does, you can't ask them if they have it as they'll then know your plans, and if you don't ask and they have it, it's the candy bar scene from Caddyshack.

Urine is sterile. No germs will be added to pool. Only the germs on your skin will be added and will be killed, mostly, by salt and chlorine.

I'll answer your question with a question:
Do you want to be swimming around in the urine of all of your buddies that were in the pool with you ?

There are two types of people in the world. People that pee in the pool, and people that lie about not peeing in the pool.

Check the HOA bylaws. Ours won’t even let us pee in our own pool. President Karen comes by twice a day to check each homeowners pool, anything over 1 ppb and you’re fined. After 3 fines, the pool becomes theirs. Our neighbors lost theirs last week, they think it was the toddler. There is a board meeting this week to determine if the HOA should get custody of the kid. Workers were there on Friday putting up a fence around their pool with access controls. Karen was supervising the construction.
