Regardless if you believe man made climate change is real or not...you can't deny it's hotter now than it was 30-40 years ago. (INB4 "WhErE aRe YoUr ChArTs Or StAtS)
As a child I spent virtually 100% of my waking hours outside during the summer. Playing as a child with kids in the neighborhood or working manual labor outside as a teenager. It was hot but it wasn't a legitimate health risk to be outside for hours upon hours. (INB4 YoU WeRe UsEd tO It)
Now kids can't be outside for more than a few minutes to an hour and they are bordering on heat stroke, sever sunburn and totally overwhelmed. (INB4 insert your witty response here)
Anyway...y'all can go ahead and fight about who is a cuck for big oil or not.

Damn. My daughter was outside for a good 6-7 hours yesterday. It’s a miracle she’s alive today.

If a kid is inside on his ipad all the time and goes outside to do stuff once a month then yeah, it's not going to go well. If the kid ain't fat, stays hydrated, and plays outside all the time then it isn't really a problem other than sunburn potential.

It was hot AF in July in South Louisiana when I was a kid too
Last year was certainly an anomaly. That was the hottest summer I can remember, but we also got almost zero rain which is very unusual.

As a child you probably weren't a fatass and acclimated to the heat.

Go to most high schools right now at 7 am and look at the footballs team, cross country team, soccer team and track teams putting in work, sweating, outside, every day

Means nothing here. Last summer was significantly hotter than pretty much any summer “back when I was a kid” and the stats proved that but most of the posters here would have none of that.

Out of curiosity, I decided to look back to 1980 when I was a 10 year old kid living in rural north Alabama. During the summer, unless it was storming, we were outside, usually shirtless, doing things like playing football, riding bikes, and all the other things kids did then. But that’s only if we weren’t mowing the yard or I was at the farm next door feeding cows, or on the tractor bush hogging (that was my favorite). Anyway, here is what I found about temps in north Alabama that summer of 1980…
quote:
The National Weather Service reported that the hottest day in Alabama during the heat wave was on July 17, 1980, when over 80% of the state recording temperatures of at least 100 degrees with the rest reaching 105 degrees. The highest reading that day was 108 degrees in Bessemer, Aliceville and Jasper.
Remembering the summer of 1980, one of the worst heat waves in Alabama history
And that’s not counting the good month or so we’d spend in central Florida where it was even hotter.
Somehow, we survived though.
