In Canada and Minnesota is the most popular fish. I enjoy fish so I've anyway had it four times. It's a really good fish and I can say my favorite fresh water fish. Actually shocked by how well some places here spice it. It tastes almost like redfish.
I know it's not local to the south but do any of our fishmongers carry it?
I would like to add it to my local rotation. I usual only eat gulf fish and don't like most fresh water fish but this fish is really good.

Culvers will have it on their menu occasionally.

I have never seen it for sale locally, but I've eaten some local fresh caught in GA (Lake Lanier)

Now would be the time to get it if they ever did. It's peak walleye fishing in Lake Erie. They are basically jumping in the boat. It's in the midd of a historical run for the walleye population.

I've never seen it on a menu or in a store in Louisiana, but I wish we could find it here.

Recently had walleye for the first time at Smoking Mule in Chamberlain, SD. It was darned good. Interestingly, it was a fried walleye poboy. They had some other poboys on the menu too.

It seems wrong to post this, because it doesn't help you at all, but they are plentiful in Bull Shoals and Norfork Reservoirs in Northern Arkansas. I have caught many in both of those lakes. Some really nice ones, too.

They are really good eating and a shock if you forget and try to lip them when you catch one, because they have very sharp teeth.

Good article

To me, they’re like a freshwater speckled trout…teeth and all. VERY good eating.

I bought fresh Walleye fillets at Central Market in Houston a few weeks ago. It was the first time I can recall seeing it for sale locally. I was excited to finally get to try the "best tasting freshwater fish". It was excellent. Another win for HEB!

I'm not sure how often they carry it, or if they carry it at every store, but I've found walleye fillets at the Lafayette Costco in the past.

I've read where Sauger is essentially identical in taste and texture to walleye.

I have caught Sauger in both Bull Shoals and Norfork also They are easy to catch when they run. Taste good also.

The limit regulations for both of these fish are strange, only legal to catch them in the morning and at sunset.

How the heck do they police that?

Used to catch a mess of sauger below wilson dam in northwest alabama. Best tasting freshwater fish I’ve had.

I may need to go on a fishing trip for Saunger.
I can't get enough walleye. Had it blackened last night and it was very good.

One of, if not the best tasting white fish that swims, I’d imagine you can find it somewhere in the south, or potentially order it from one of those ship to your door type markets.

They’re also a really fun fish to ice fish for.
