You can do it for 24K in New Iberia

I don't recommend it though

Nobody has a "modest" lifestyle.
No internet
No alcohol / smoking jernts /
Ramen soup 4 days a week
Pre paid Obama phone
Rent $1300 for a 1 bedroom without riff-raff.
Did I mention car insurance and a note?
How about a GF? Getting laid does cost money.

Check your Internet provider. I was paying for one of the faster speeds. Once I realized it, I downgraded to the slowest option. It seems just as fast and a lot cheaper.

I think the biggest challenge would be finding a safe reasonably priced apartment complex. It seems to be overpriced condos or ghetto shitholes. Nothing in between.

I was single making low/mid 60s and had plenty of money to do whatever I wanted with. I paid a house note, car note, etc., went on trips, bought whatever I wanted, even threw money into savings every paycheck.

I wasn’t frivolous with my money but I also didn’t “spend wisely” as some would say, and I had more than enough.

1 bedroom apt- $1000

able to afford a car within the 10 year old range with maintenance- should be paid for, maintenance $100-$200/month saved for big expense ,

insurance- good driver minimum coverage $100 bad driver w/ higher coverage $250 (??)

gas- 10 year old car $150-200/mth ,

utility bills- $100-200/mth ,

health insurance - no idea $250? Probably higher $400?

groceries- if you can cook $250, if you can’t cook $500,

out to eat maybe once or twice a month- $100, w/ drinks $200

and a small budget for free spending on hobbies- $500-$1000

I would say $30-$48k depending on your lifestyle

Recently, or like 10+ years ago?

I made 30k in BR when I graduated college, but that was 24 years ago, and not indicative of the COL today. An inflation calculator shows that's around 56k in today's dollars, and I was by no means balling on 30k in 2000
