Plenty of door pullers/car break ins here in Badden Rouge.

They tend to come around after Midnight and walk into home owners carports. Latest trend is teens kicking on home owners front doors.

I am really surprised that no one has been shot yet.

Someone will get shot.

Anyone recall Rodney Peairs ?

Not a round about way.

Yeah, I went to school with his nephew. That was a terrible situation.

Basically, the litmus test should be that you aren’t walking out of that unless you pull the trigger, so you’ll have to deal with the likely consequences but it’s better than being dead. Unless your life is truly in danger, it’s far better to let a criminal walk with even a few thousand dollars worth of stuff.

Except that isn't even close to a reasonable litmus test unless you are in some anti-2A shithole state. In Louisiana, which has Castle and SYG doctrines, the standard is reasonable fear of serious bodily harm or a forcible felony. If you as much try to punch somebody through an open car window, they can justifiably shoot you and they will walk. Civil lawsuit? Not going to work if SYG doctrine is invoked and definitely not against a CCW holder once new laws go into affect.

Dang, I just looked online, and there are some great, affordable houses in Shreveport.

True. Its one of the last really affordable places, but most of the ity is uninhabitable.

We don’t have details, so there could be some aggravating factors, but if you aren’t queasy over a 12 yr old being killed while engaged in petty theft, there’s something wrong with you.

you can feel as queasy as your little heart tells you. for me, my empathy is based on reality. because this likely isn’t just a misunderstanding, is it?

So, how many prior convictions? how many prior charges have been dropped? (likely 2-3x as many convictions) how many times has he committed a crime and gotten away with it?

your queasiness or a jury’s queasiness while ignoring facts may result in this kid killing an actual innocent 12 year old the next time.

but you don’t want to talk about that outcome do you? because statistically for this kid and many other fatherless kids, it’s more than likely.

It's just like every larger city in the Southeast- you've just got to know where to live. That being said, we're only still here because of our aging parents. I hope that one of the kids moves away and we get to follow them.

I'd say that's likely unless he was in the vehicle or the kid pointed a gun at him.
. Brandishing a weapon would justify shooting - no need to point

If I was the guy, I would be swearing on a stack of bibles that I saw one of them with a gun and fired in self-defense. Late at night, prove I didn't see a gun. If you had half a brain you'd advocate that the kid's deadbeat guardians faced criminal charges instead.

And not only saw a gun, but they threatened to shoot me if I didn't go back in the house.

This is a favorite picture for me to post... These precious little kids are dancing to a rap song being filmed.... The lyrics are about shooting Nigg@s in the head... The video was pulled from youtube after the songwriter/rapper was - wait for it---- Shot in the head.

So if this is what YOU as a culture are teaching your children as normal and keeping it real, then the problem is not Whitey or Guns.. The problem is YOU.

Google Ert confirms, plenty cars/trucks on blocks. I think this is where my childhood buddies grew up, went to Southwood when they were pretty good in football. Their parents still live in the same house and watched the hood bloom around them.
