Yes, because I’ve watched approximately 200 games from the first row of bleachers in the exact section the play happened. "

This discussion is in regard to THIS game and we just happen to have an eye witness that was 20 feet away when the play occurred. That's a unique vantage point and I'll take the eye witness account.

I sit in left field and can say that last year during the victory lap players jumped up and high fived a bunch of people. So yes you can reach into the field of play.

That kid is there all the time and will run you over to attempt to get a ball. Not a bad kid but he has no control when a ball comes toward the left field.

Hopefully this will calm him down a little because he is a fan of LSU baseball and there are much worst places and things he can be doing.

Maybe. Maybe not. But none of the video replays I’ve seen proves that definitively. Even slowed down and zoomed in it’s all a blurry mess. Overturning a call is only supposed to happen when there is definitive proof.

Good guys won, lessons learned, it’s moot.

Fact of the matter is that it didn’t cost us the game.

This. The call sucked in the moment, and it felt like there was not enough on the video to prove that the fan touched it. But in the end it didn't matter. So on to today. Let's win the series today!

I’ll go along with your assessment, since you were closer than 100% of the respondents on here . I’m just like the rest of them , by viewing what appears to be another grainy Bigfoot sighting.

How far back is the fence from the wall? In that shot, his forearm is on the fence, so the tip of his glove can't be more than 18 inches over, probably closer to 12.

Damn

I really hope he's gonna get the chance to apologize (To Travinski) if he's really crushed by that. It's one thing if an adult interfered but you know he's feels like crap because he unintentionally messed up a long ball.

That kid was doing what most of us probably would've done. Yes he was reaching over but it wasn't like he was intentionally reaching into the field of play. Like we've said how there's minimum a 2 ft gap to prevent something like that.

With that said IF THE BALL MADE CONTACT WITH HIS GLOVE IT'S EASILY A HR

frick I hate B-Ham

How far is that fence he’s leaning against from the top of the wall? Looks like the kid has midget arms and it looks like his elbow doesn’t go past the fence. I’d say that at the absolute max his mid forearm and glove extend 2ft from the fence.

Unless you stood up, put your head down the line of the railing to see if his glove was over the wall, then your account is pretty useless. Depth perception comes into account on a play like this. And it doesnt appeae that you or birmingham had it available.

Looking at the pictures of the kid, chasing 1-2 balls per game at home games might be the only thing he’s doing athletically, so
It’s not hard to believe he gloved it and didn’t catch it. Clearly he isn’t playing SS on his HS JV team.

You can also tell he's leaning out over the fence with his arm fully extended, and the glove almost certainly extends beyond the wall.

At best, it looks like his elbow is right over the bleacher fence (chain link fence). There is a gap bt the chain link fence and the outfield wall. If anything this pic proves it was a home run.

I think many people here are making the same mistake that the replay official made in Birmingham by thinking the wall and the fence are butted up against each other. But there is absolutely a gap. And that kid would need to have his body hanging over and arms fully towards the field of play to have actually interfered.

That kid will remember that for the rest of his life. Thank god we won or his family would have to put him in hiding.

Being 20 feet away means nothing if he was sitting behind him.

Would it be interference if he ran on the field and kicked the ump in the balls and yelled “interfere deez nuts”.

It’s just a bad rule - apply common sense and make it either a ground rule double or dead ball batter back to the box.

Calling an out and removing the fan is absolutely absurd.
