The common denominator

It will be very interesting to see how the United Methodist Church handles this Mass departure from a monetary standpoint. Overall I think the United Methodist church denomination will struggle moving forward.
I mean running a church has to have extremely low overhead since you are a non profit and get tax exemptions. Most of the buildings/land was probably paid for upfront by fundraising efforts.

I'm not religious personally, but to say they're "living in sin this way" seems hypocritical. Isn't everyone living in sin to some extent according to most religions? I'm closing in on 40, and as far as I've been able to tell, gay people are pretty much born that way for the most part.
You are conflating the two issues of sin and living in sin. The issue is openly flaunting it and living in sin, not sin. We all are sinners but to live it openly and flaunt it without repentance is completely different.
Repentance is a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in our action and behavior.

Because God is no longer God in most churches today, self is.

Agreed - all who sit in the pews at our Church absolutely are sinners. However, I believe that most of us ask for forgiveness for their individual sins from God.

Umm EDS is not a Catholic school. It’s right there in the name.

This isn't new. The Catholic church has had gay priests for as long as I can remember. They just aren't allowed to get married like the Methodists.

This happens because Christianity doesn’t have a universal church. We can debate to we're blue in the face all the negatives of the Catholic Church, but that’s what it was at one point. Instead of giving up on a universal church we need to make it what it once was

Because most church leaders only care about what goes in the collection plate. They don't care who it is from, nor about the morals that their church is supposed to instill.
Organized religion is a sham.

Catholic church has always allowed gay preachers. What do you think precipitated all the kiddy diddling?
Posted on 5/1/24 at 1:08 pm to Hawgnsincebirth55
The vote to allow gays in the ministry and same sex marriages this week was a given since over 7,000 Churches have disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church.
Obviously, they were not at the general conference to vote as they have been in past years. Next up will be the vote to remove the phrasing that homosexuality is not compatible with Christian teaching.

So fat people, openly living in and flaunting their sin?

If you can get the church to accept it then what moral grounds can others oppose it on? And there is another schism in the church

quote:how about you come over to my side. I’m not too big into kid diddling. Also I don’t believe I need someone to be my conduit to God. I also don’t believe any man on earth is above me between God. I also don’t believe I need to pray to a dead person like a Demi god in order to have my prayers answered. The patron saint of lost keys isn’t going to help me. If I need to get to work on time God will show me which cushion they’ve fallen in between

It didn't work out well when the Catholic Church turned the blind eye to gay preachers, it's amazing that the Methodist church is diving into this!!

Why have churches started allowing gay preachers?
