I truly don't understand how this is legal. I should be able to vote for whoever I want in the allotted voting period, regardless of party affiliation. If I don't like the candidates in my registered party and feel better about another, I should not be limited in my voting abilities. It's straight up fascism.

Do you think you can even get 20% of people to come out and vote for anything else?
I’d imagine that this particular issue would have a better chance than most things, except maybe a referendum to dissolve the state government entirely and request annexation into Texas

Ridiculous.
I was willing to semi defend his LSU cash stance if he pushed for it to become statewide, but this is asinine, idiotic, dumb bullshite.

What we need is more people using weed in this lazy shithole of a state. Surely it leads to a more productive populace.

The fricking alcohol lobby wins again.

texas already takes all the college grads. why would they want the rest

The real reason is the alcohol lobbyists - looking at you, Mockler - and all the massive distributors that do not want anyone to take away their share of recreational adult substances. I would absolutely rather have weed than alcohol, and I like both. Alcohol makes me feel shittier and is more expensive. I don't smoke the stuff. Edibles are much better, even the Delta-8/Delta-9s are enough.
There's an even more obvious opponent than the alcohol industry.

Good Day Farms, which is based in Arkansas and partners with LSU, has dramatically scaled up its production, building a big growing facility in Ruston with the help of a multi-million dollar investment from Boysie Bollinger, a well-known businessman and GOP donor.
I think it's obvious that Bollinger is one of the people who is really running the state. Powerful enough that Landry appointed him as a delegate for the proposed constitutional convention.

Good thing they banned this and made sure you can pay cash at Tiger Stadium rather than fixing the states other 1000 issues. What a shite hole.

Louisiana truly is the worst of all political worlds: moronically socially conservative and recklessly fiscally liberal.
Definitely the feeling that it is a conservative feeding frenzy right now, some good things, but this is definitely a huge misfire and complete idiocy.

Ok. Call it an amendment like they do everything else. Problem solved.

Well it would be that. Or the continuous veto of constitutional carry. Or the shutting down of business. Or the shutting down of places of worship. I guess you are ok with that?

Not a fan of Landry out of the gate. Didn't vote for him. But again, anyone who says Landry has had a larger negative impact on personal freedoms than JBE is being willfully ignorant or disingenuous.

Get the names of the folks who vote against the legislation you/we/the state wants and vote for someone else next time.

Yea it's probably gonna pass the house. As usual, leave it to LA to worry about all the things affecting few people and not address the issues affecting most people.
White boomers are still the deciding voting block here. These same politicians will be singing a different tune in ten years if they are still around.

And there is no power that JBE had that superseded the 1A to put a restriction on the practice religion based on being in person or not.
