If having a kid changed them and their practice habits that much they simply never had the capability or drive to be a true great and eventually something else would have stopped them

There is definitely something likable about Scottie.

Good analogy. After reading that I expect to hear him say Shazam or Gosh Darn after a great shot. As long as he keeps putting well he can stay near the top.
