Louisiana ranks no. 1 in U.S. for chlamydia cases, research shows

That info is from 2022, when the state moved up to the number one spot from the number three spot back in 2021. In 2022, LDH says there were a total of 36,200 cases of chlamydia reported. Also in 2022, there were 1,649,716 cases of chlamydia reported nationwide, making it the most common sexually transmitted infection that year.
LDH says in 2022, the chlamydia case rate in Louisiana was 46% higher than the national case rate of 495 per 100,000 people. In northwest Louisiana, the case rate was 344.8 cases per 100,000 residents.

Last year on the way to the BR airport I saw a huge billboard for chlamydia right there off of 110 loop and Choctaw exit. I've been to all 50 states and can't recall ever seeing a billboard specific to chlamydia in another state. That was odd, funny and sad all in one.
