No, he wil get paid and it will be the death of the franchise lol

The problem with BI is that his scoring is not efficient. That was the criticism of him in LA. The ball sticks to his hand. Catch and shoot and cuts to the basket aren't his forte. He has to dribble a lot to score and the other players watch.

He needed to be traded years ago. But it has to be done this offseason.

His scoring efficiency isn't elite, but if he played within the offense more you can live with volume shooting at that efficiency. Or, if he was elite at scoring efficiency, you can live with the ball sticking.
The problem is both. A volume shooter who isn't super efficient and also is a ball stopper is just not a good combo.
Now with the emergence of Zion and having the ball in Zion's hands more and more and needing as much shooting as possible to go with Zion, BI just does not make sense.
I truly feel we can trade him in the offseason, get a lesser player, and it will be addition by subtraction.
As I've said all along, no this team is not better if BI just disappeared, but 2 things: The team doesn't get worse when he's out to a degree that you'd think with your 2nd best player. In fact, we had a higher win % in the 18 games he was out than the 64 games he played. And 2nd, this isn't about just dropping BI off the team, it's about the trade assets you can get in return. Just because he is not a fit here does not mean he has no trade value and no teams will want him. He can fetch a solid haul, hopefully a 5 that IMO will immediately make us a better team even if that player isn't as good as BI.

Hope you're right. Don't think we should kick this can down the road much further. Still could get decent value for Ingram or CJ this summer. If we wait, not so much.
Ingram is a good player. A very good player. But he doesn't fit well next to Zion. You can't have a team in today's NBA with two max stars who don't shoot 3-pointers and are only ok defenders. Can't do it and expect to contend.
I would hope the front office sees this. Hard to believe they don't. But I've seen examples of very smart people in high positions lying to themselves. An issue here is Brandon is an emotional foundation for team. In Griffin's "we are family" model, trading away the emotional foundation of the team may be problematic. It's a big reason I don't think you should have that model for a professional sports franchise. It's much more like a military unit than a family. You can have a great deal of love and respect in the group, but everyone understands reaching the objective, accomplishing the mission, is primary even if sacrifices have to be made to do it.

It will be interesting to see if any of the offers for him leak. Versatile wings are always in demand, but the book on Ingram is his lack of impact. I hope a losing team like Detroit, Washington, or Charlotte that are just sick of being wholly uncompetitive would value Ingram's scoring/creation (or to a lesser extent CJ).
Maybe a team searching for wings like Utah or Cleveland will work. Ingram being an expiring and expected to demand a max or near max is going to significantly supress his market.

I think best thing that can happen in these playoffs is we actually win tomorrow somehow, BI does well, Minny gets gentleman swept and it's obvious the KAT/Gobert pairing doesn't work well and they'd be better off with a wing scorer like BI.
a nice swap of BI for KAT.
If we can have the 6th best defense with JV and Nance, then we can sustain that with KAT as well.
The Wolves defense was significantly better without KAT on the court, and BI can replace his offense.
I really do think it makes both teams better. No one's playing with two big slow guys in their closing lineups like Minny tries to do with Gobert and KAT. They are significantly worse on offense and defense in the clutch this year. They actually have a worse NetRtg than us.

Too good to be true. What about CJ or a real PG?

I don’t. I think the market for BI will be terrible this offseason so they won’t see a deal they want to make.
They wait until trade deadline to try and get something.

The issue with Trey is he gives you nothing else . No D, no rebounding , no assist . So on days he’s not hitting shots he’s a liability .
So if your whole plan is for Z to be the Sun and each other player orbits around him Trey is a good fit for that. However when Zion inevitably misses time , Trey is not the same guy.
Trey will become public enemy number 2 for the Pelicans fans the second he signs his extension .

I get the KAT shooting fit but want nothing to do with him. Miserable to watch , not a winning player , soft as charmin, low iq , takes terrible shots , etc ..

You’re right on assists but wrong on rebounding and D. Both have substantially improved late in the season. In fact theres some stat showing players have had trouble scoring on Trey and his rebounding has also improved. Granted this was all him in a starter role not bench minutes- which shows that with extended time he can give you what you’re looking for.

Yeah I agree not a KAT fan. Hes always hurt as well- something this franchise does not need.

BI can't be traded because doing so would mean Griffin admitting that he got absolutely fleeced in the AD trade
Posted on 4/17/24 at 8:46 pm to Pels_Yaz
I don’t believe I’m wrong on either of those . He’s constantly out of position , slow in rotations , and missing his help . Rarely gets deflections, blocks shots, or generates turnovers . There is more to defense than just guarding the ball especially when he’s often matched up on one of the weaker offensive players .
He’s 6’10 and rarely works or fights for rebounds . Part of his rebounding issue is he’s often a step or 2 late bc he’s playing catch up trying to defend the play .
Defense is defense whether you start or play off the bench .

Tied game, Zion gets hurt and he doesn’t get a minute after that? Seems strange.
I understand that sentiment. But what was he going to provide? A contested 15ft fade away jumper that draws nothing but iron.... All after dribbling for 18 seconds

I feel they messed up the team's rhythm by starting BI vs the Lakers. Not saying the Lakers don't beat us on Sunday.

Who gives a shite
Griffin.. that's my point
He'd rather ride a flawed roster into the ground (apparently 5 years from now), than admit that his haul from the AD deal wasn't that great
