Also Michigan is probably a better team than LSU. Minus the hype.
I don't like ESPN or UNC. But the circumstances are a bit....different.

In a multitude of ways.
Not everyone. UCLA, South Carolina and Texas are fully capable. Mississippi State and Notre Dame took down two undefeated UCONN teams, in consecutive years, when people were expressing the same sentiments.

I don't believe that good teams go in with any coordinated plan to "hold down" Koval. That happens naturally. She's a nonenity in games vs real competition. LSU fans and the media brought the "I wasn't being developed" spiel when she went into the portal despite the Notre Dame bigs coach, who's been there about 30 years, having put multiple bigs into the WNBA.
Kim and LSU have improved her conditioning but skills wise she's pyrite.
Assholes don't care about women's basketball, but won't hesitate to say the vilest shite about them when they don't win a game.

It quite the contradiction. People risking carpal tunnel syndrome to claim that they don't care.

You're mad that LSU lost or you would have no interest in any of these threads.
No personal "attack" but an observation. Kate Kovals problem at Notre Dame didn't stem from a lack of being developed. It stems from physical limitations aside from size.
Hopefully she'll get coached up by Kim M without her high school weighing in with a "it's not you it's them" line.

She doesn't fit with LSU's greyhounds any better than she did with Miles and Hilgado at ND. Rosario is better.
And the people who approved it? The trustees? The president? Woodward didn't have sole authority.

Now the man wants all of his money.

As HC BK can override any play call on both sides of the ball. Blaming someone else after the fact is his longtime MO.
It's the same charge ND fans made. There's even a video circulating on YouTube by one of their former players basically stating it. The player didn't say it in a disparaging manner. Just sort of matter of fact.

He doesn't have any burning desire to win a NC. Never has. But it sounded good to Finebaum and Thamel.
Not really. So was Brian Van Gorder.

The former ND AD is said to have both forced Kelly to fire Van Gorder, they were longtime friends, and the catalyst in hiring Freeman.
I'm not sure why fans go ballistic over this type of recruiting result. Nothing in this kids actions ever gave an indication he was doing anything but placeholding and reveling in the attention.

Also quit ranting about "the bag". LSU went into this with eyes wide-open. Schools hear the pitch from these kids and their reps. They have some idea whose chasing money before all else and have every opportunity to cut bait.

Before having the kids and their reps using them to drive up the bidding with phony "commitments".
They didn't "back out". That's the new spin coming out of Columbus these days every time they don't get a recruit.

Also I don't believe going forward that the portal is the holy grail like in past years with teams willing and able to compensate their better players. A school with coaching turnover or that has player way above his level of talent in the MAC or somewhere and they can't match an offer are still fertile ground.

Of late its schools just are refusing to pay some kids based on their contribution and replaceability. Justice Haynes comes to mind. You don't hear the same angst in Tuscaloosa as when Caleb Downs left.

Interesting way to bitc* because LSU lost. They lost. They are at best the 3rd best team in the SEC.

Isn't it time to give this a rest?

The Pelicans are the losers.

Lakers and AD got a title.

Mavs have a legitimate championship window of 2-3 seasons.

Lakers get a 25 year old star in the end. Every player traded to the Pelicans for AD is gone.
That there were people who actually had to be informed it was satire speaks volumes.

How many did he win? Look. If he hadn't kept running his yap Notre Dame fans wouldn't be trolling now.

Freeman accomplishing 1/3 ( If one buys that spin) in much less time isn't the own intended.

ND got better. Did LSU?
That's some major league bs even by this kid's standards.
He never considered or was considered by any school because he valued academics.

His entire focus was who could get him to the league. And LSU had just graduated J. Daniel's.

A few million bucks made him convert like Ogre in Revenge of the Nerds 2.
LSU fans acting like people hating Brian Kelly is some new phenomenon are just wrong.
His bald faced lies to the Cincinnati players before confirming he was on his way to Notre Dame are well chronicled.

The Declan Sullivan incident in which the kid died and the former ND AD, who Kelly took shots at when he left, lied through his teeth to protect him.

Before the debacle against Alabama in the BCS title game it was discovered by school officials he was trying to get the Eagles job. And tried to lie his way out of that by claiming he was just curious.

This oft repeated rant about him being brought in to clean up player misconduct misses the fact that Notre Dame had to forfeit wins under his watch. Players were constantly in trouble there.

He's a brilliant politician. Better than he is at being a HC. How novel and exciting it was for some media and SEC fans to read about him trashing ND on his way out. Finebaum would almost orgasm over it. Thamel on ESPN too.

Now. The chickens have come home to roost. Deboer doesn't get any of that at Alabama because his mouth didn't write checks that his coaching couldn't cover.

re: Underwood flips to Michigan

Some LSU fans still don't get what happened. Which makes the "Underwood will report on December 8" and "Underwoods camp pushes back" balloon spit even more ridiculous.
The same day that ESPN first reported the $10 million offer the quarterback recruit in Michigan's 2025 class "decommits". I doubt it was his choice given the state of their quarterback room. He's now probably going to Wisconsin BTW.

The whole thing was a dog and pony show even as he "reaffirmed" his intention to attend LSU during the Alabama game visit. These types of deceptions aren't orchestrated by 18 year old kids. They are orchestrated by adults.

That's why I said that the idea of a high school football recruit having a "camp" to spin to the media wasn't a positive.

This kid was gone weeks before his IG announcement.

The quest for football television money. It lead to the breakups of conferences with some eagerly watching with popcorn not grasping where it was all headed.
The facilities arms race. Coaches making ridiculous sums with absolutely no loyalty to the schools or the athletes they recruited.
The rather mild $50 handshake , auto leases and too lucrative summer jobs turned into signed NIL agreements once the courts opened the door for agents.

Could they fix it? Yeah. But that would mean actually recruiting kids who belong in college and whose parents don't consider a full scholarship as exploitation. And changing Athletic Departments back to what they were intended to be instead of profit centers.
