Stop feeding birds. Stop over feeding pets. There’s a reason for the population you have. They like something you are providing….. Of course, nobody ever wants to hear this….. Traps, poison, the list goes on. Usually the problem is you.

5.56 AR, 22lr conversion, .22 cal suppressor, subsonic ammo = no more squirrels.

Squirrels caused damage to both vehicles under carport. Wiring harness destroyed and a nest from hell was built in engine compartment.
How to avoid in the future
1) Keep the hood open while you are home. Squirrels like dark warm places - let the light shine in and noise enter the engine compartment.
2) Placed ammonia on a rag. Placed rag in a ziplock bag with some holes cut in the ziplock above the rag. Zip tied to bar near battery where the original damage occurred.
Have not had any signs of a single squirrel since - 3 years.

I've paid over $5k for wires eaten up by squirrels. Even filed an insurance claim once.
.22 CB or subsonic through a bolt action. No mercy. Satisfying "bang, thwop" that doesn't alert the neighbors.
Death to squirrels and all they stand for! Kill them all!
Between me and the owl family that has moved in , those wire eating limb rats are on the retreat. If you aren't inclined to sniping, One Bite will also ruin their day- but isn't dog safe.

May not be an option for you but rats were chewing up wiring on camp vehicles.
Started leaving them with the hoods up all the way.
Problem solved

Theyve chewed through my AC ducts.
I wish I could shoot each one and make gravy with them.

Get you a mini Schnauzer. They terrorize squirrels.
A cat might help. They love to hunt.

Yes it is. I live in a suburb and bought an air shotgun when I had some move in my attic. Basically a pellet rifle that shoots shot (and pellets). The shot is only deadly within 20-25 ft. and won’t take your neighbors window out. Doesn’t make a lot of noise but I was still discreet with shooting it.

Probably rats. Every spring my rice farming FIL takes his combine and tractors out to do maintenance and it’s a war against those “worthless wire chewing sob bastards.”

followed by Kary's roux in a jar. It's not too bad.

Kill one squirrel and hang it somewhere near your vehicle.

Get a few bird feeders and put them up. They will lose interest in wires very quickly.
I got some ultrasonic device for the MIL since she has one of those model year Honda’s that has some glue or material in it that apparently smells like Central BBQ ribs to mice. A mouse started a nest in the AC ducts and we had to clean it out. They put it in the garage and it has worked thus far. It wasn’t one of those 10 dollar ones… more like over 100 for it.
