USC is located in the 30's and old SANTA BARBARA Blvd renamed MLK Blvd/Exposition/Jefferson/Figueroa/

Watts starts in the 90s and ends at Imperial Hwy...

USC and the University Park section of Los Angeles IS NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE WATTS section of Los Angeles!!!!!

I have been lucky enough to visit places like university of Arkansas, Missouri, BYU, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Georgetown, etc.

LSU is so far behind these universities, that it is far beyond funny. It is a serious problem.

If Louisiana is serious, the entire university landscape must be changed.

Louisiana State - 60% all state funding
Louisiana Tech - 20% of state funding
Louisiana Lafayette-20% state funding

Maybe a small presence in NewOrleans.

The rest are absorbed into one of the 3.

That is the ONLY way for lsu to be anything more than a slum lord school.

Once the funding is there, LSU needs to follow Tech’s lead and acquire slum land and develop it into world class academic centers.

But the focus is on Mulkey and the PMAC.

Shame on us as tax payers.

Engineering Vet school MBA program

Are these programs good? I have an MBA from LSU and it wasn’t that hard to get and certainly wouldn’t classify it as prestigious. LSU is no higher than 6 in the SEC in engineering (Vandy, UF, A&M, UT, MSU). The state of Louisiana has a vet school…most states only have one…also no one said it’s elite.

LSU is like most universities. It is great if you are getting a degree in the fields it’s known for. You can go to Harvard and get a worthless degree that will lead to poverty.

How big of a role do you think that plays?

Zero.

The administration of the university is criminally incompetent, for one.

The priorities of Louisianans is another. LSU is the only university in the country whose athletic endowment exceeds its academic endowment. As the state government has reduced funding, it can't rely on its endowment like most other universities have done around the country. People here think higher education is a communist plot. But then, I wouldn't donate any money to that incompetent administration either.

The program I graduated from in 1990 was ranked #12 nationally, public and private. Now it's not ranked at all.

Haha. Ignore the dumbasses. The whole area south of the 10 is being gentrified. USC is going to be in a “nice area” in a decade or so

Let's be honest, the ULL kids couldn't get into LSU and feigned concern over crime was their excuse.

Prime example, Jeff Landry.

Honest question, does LSU have a culinary arts? If not, that is a missed opportunity. Love Cajun cuisine.

ULM has better nursing than all of these and now has a DO program.

ULM's administrative functions can be wrapped together with Louisiana Tech and the nursing program can continue to exist within the newly combined university.

There is no reason a flagship school in a capital city should be surrounded by a ghetto.

I have always thought this ^. I wonder what LSU fans that traveled to Madison, WI thought?

When I think of Baton Rouge I think of Madison, Wisconsin. Two state capitals with large public universities. One is not like the other.

I understand the demographics are different but you’re correct, there is no logical explanation for LSU not simply buying the ghetto next to it. Turn it into student housing and keep it moving and grooving.

Probably some group of communists protecting “residents housing rights” in BR if I had to guess. I can see crime getting out of hand in large metros (Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, etc) but I can’t understand how it can be that bad in a university town that is also a state capital.

F. Wallace Eversburg owned everything around LSU.

LSU was the deep state before we ever used that term. The student body has to battle a confrontational and unqualified employee cartel that views the student as a victim to plunder.

To be fair though the ranking never was real high before F King, he just made it worse
