I have to be missing something. What’s this have to do with backing anything?
It's been a recurring theme today (like the FBI thread) attacking LEO for being too oppressive.
It follows suit with the recent reversal in backing the blue with things like the Trump prosecutions.
But I knew at some point, a red meat thread would come and everyone would be supporting the Police State again.
I"m just trying to enforce intellectual consistency.

Before playing board intellectual consistency cop, don't you think it might be a good idea of you practiced some yourself?

Specifically in this thread, it deals with bail according to the OP
To paraphrase a quote from the Fourth Amendment thread if you're willing to give up your Liberty for security you deserve neither. These threads are emotional triggers for people who deserve neither because they would gladly give up constitutional rights in order to support oppressive LEO/prosecutorial practices.
You don't get to pick or choose and remain intellectually honest and consistent

Dude you have lost it.
You might have a point, if this was a story about police brutality or over-reach, but it's not.
Also, lax or dysfunctional DA's and judges are not "the Blue" and have nothing to do with police officers. They are often at odds.
I don't Back the Blue and I'm not against them either.
This is a tragic story and you are attempting some contrarian mumbo jumbo.

No, No, No. He's keeping us "intellectually honest". Don't you know anything?

Pointing out the idiocy of no bail policies isn’t “backing the blue.” It’s backing society and order.

Any death of an innocent person is tragic. Not sure why some of only care when it is a cop. So many more dangerous jobs out there. I don't see any of you memorializing linemen or loggers. They have far higher death rates than cops. And their jobs are actually critical to the running of society. And I didn't see any of them kneeling to BLM in 2020. They don't violate the civil rights of Americans on a daily basis either.

Are any of them murdered by people out on no-cash bail who quite literally had no business being out on no-cash bail?

Where have you met such a person?
I never have.

You're either for a big police state or you're for limited government. Pick a side.
I am for limited government.

No problem here. I am for limited government, especially police power and enforcing our rights, like our right to bail.

So I take it you are perfectly okay with this guy being out on no-cash bail and then killing a policeman.
You are okay with this guy:
quote:
The 18-year-old suspect was arrested last month on auto theft charges and released without bond, Davis said. When he was arrested in March, the suspect had an illegally modified semiautomatic weapon, Davis said.
Being out on no-cash bail. That speaks says alot about you. And it's not good.
Personally... I'm for "if you steal a car and have an illegally modified semiautomatic weapon, then clearly you were up to no good and we are just going to go ahead and keep you in jail until your trial."
But by all means... let's just let the guy go free so he can kill a policeman.

Which how coincides with releasing someone on no bail with an illegal machine gun with a stolen vehicle - multiple felonies, state and federal......please enlighten us.

Were any of them arrested for stealing a car and carrying an illegally modified semiautomatic weapon? If so... ok... lets talk about them. If not, then it appears we have nothing to discuss.

Officer McKinney was 26 years old.
DA Mulroy is passing the buck in his statement:
“What we do know is that at the time of this offense, one of the suspects, Jaylen Lobley, was released in March on ROR with various conditions including reporting and curfew. This bond was granted by a Shelby County Judicial Commissioner following a hearing where our office strongly argued against lowering the bond, citing the defendant's danger to the community. Despite our arguments, the Commissioner approved the ROR bond.”
Lying bastard. Everyone knows his office pushes the no cash bail release of these thugs.
