Would you have let this person out of jail?

Which how coincides with releasing someone on no bail

Limited government has everything to do with that.

You're talking about the state confining a person prior to conviction with a constitutional right to bail.

Prior to conviction? Yes.

Prior to him missing a court date? Yes.

Bail is not supposed to be punitive. Sentencing after a conviction is. Bail is supposed to ensure a defendant shows up to court.

What in the absolute frick does a thug POS being out on no bail killing somebody have to do with being or not being for a police state??

Look. It’s someone else causing your profession to look friggen stupid. More piling on to lawyers being scumbags. And it hurts your feelings. we know. Law isn’t the moral and ethical thing you peons perceive it to be to smooth brains you try to feed it to.

But try to stay in the confines of the topic. You are not convincing anyone of this moral high ground of law. Just stop trying.

The bail and pretrial detention of an non-convicted citizen.

Have you ever commented on J6ers being held without trial?

Now.. I might be mistaken, but aren't there some of the Jan 6 protesters still sitting in jail without having had their trial yet? Isn't that true? If so, I guess you don't mind ignoring the constitution for their "crimes", do you?

You can, but you're not intellectually consistent.

Ummmmm where in the constitution does it say you should give no cash bail with charges of multiple felonies?

Are you seriously equating “obstruction of an official proceeding” by people with no priors with possession of an automatic weapon and vehicle theft and someone with priors?

Really?

The first sign that someone is intellectually consistent is that you think that they aren’t.

The 8th Amendment guarantees no excessive bail.

Bail is only a tool to ensure a person appears for court. It should only be difficult if the accused has a history of missing court or is accused of a crime so heinous the penalty makes the risk: reward worth skipping out worth it (like murder).

The gun charge shouldn't even be a crime.

What is the fundamental difference with respect to bail (again, which is not a punishment for the crime and is only to ensure the Defendant appears in court)
